Remember a while ago where I made a post addressing the problems with GB + Skelly? I talked about some things that were wrong with the book, and how I was worried my life's work was gonna turn out as missed potential. I asked some people IRL who read it for their reviews of the book so far (Specifically the storyboards for chapters 1-8 and a little bit of 9), and I now have much more hope. I asked my parents and best friend what they would rate the book out of 10, and my dad gave it a "8 or a 9." My mom said it was a 9, and my best friend said it was a 7. 7 isn't... great, but he also mentioned that 10 would be literal shining gold. So I don't know what to think of that. All of them seem to think the book is REALLY funny, so that's a good sign. Whenever I finish a chapter, I let them read it and I believe almost every person who has read it has ammittedly laughed multiple times every chapter, despite all of them having very different senses of humor. I typically am not in the room when my dad is able to read it, so I don't know if he laughed specifically, but he comments that it's funny. I've been hearing the battle scenes are great, and I feel like some are better than others, but I believe I have plans to fix the ones that aren't AS good. And even those ones are pretty dang decent from what I've heard. My mom says that she's never seen a graphic novel that has made her laugh that much or one that she thought would give her nightmares. So... take that however you want to. And I don't think I hear, like, any feedback about the lore of the book, but looking back at it, it seems REALLY good. There may be some very slight things that are confusing, and possibly some very miniscule plot holes, but those should be easy to fix. It's really deep and relevant to the story, and most of all, I think it's really interesting and leaves you asking questions on some of it. Some chapters are REALLY lore heavy, and some are just goofy as all heck. But it's a decent balance. The problem of the super uneven chapter lengths is definitely still there, with chapter 8 being a bit over 50 pages and the first being 10. So I will need to do some tweaking to add and remove certain stuff, but I have a plan for that as well. It is often mentioned that the art is very good. But nothing's really new there. My mom mentioned that the character designs need to be more unique from eachother, which I always had in the back of my mind. So I'm sure I can figure that out. The problems are definitely there, but a lot of them are really small and I have ideas to fix pretty much all of em. So don't be discouraged by the project from forever ago, it should end up very good. It's basically Scott Pilgrim with the lore of Ultrakill and the humor of The Amazing World of Gumball and Regular Show. So if that sounds good, you should all be in for a treat when this thing is finished in a few years. And chapter 9 and 10 aren't even done yet, and when they are, some of the scores I collected might bump up by a LOT. I think the ending is gonna be nothing short of a masterpiece, and I have been planning that part for, like, 2 or 3 years. And there's a good chance my second book, Otherworldly Oddities, will be even better than GB + Skelly. (Man, I still feel like GB + Skelly needs a better name lol)
