✦ cricketkit - no - cricket/paw/ sat in the shade of highrock after her ceremony, contemplating what had just happened. she was an apprentice now, one out of what was probably a hundred at this point. just another face in the crowd. cricketpaw didn’t want that. she didn’t want to be looked at as just another immature kit pretending to know what they were doing. she padded over to a puddle of melted snow; a sign that leafbare was coming to an end. she stared into it. her reflection stared back. the face of the cat she used to be. messy fur, a wide grin, bright yellow eyes. cricketpaw didn’t want to be that cat anymore. that cat wouldn’t make sure mossclan stayed alive this time around. the cats in old mossclan? the ones who used to live in this camp? they had been bad. they’d let what must have been hundreds of moons of work go to waste, lazing about the camp doing nothing. but this time, cricketpaw was around. not cricketkit, cricket/paw/. cricketpaw was going to be the best, like no cat ever was! she was going to hunt so much prey that mossclan would have enough for moons, protect the border so well that nothing got past her. cats would talk about her glory for moons after she was gone. kits would look up at her in awe. she would be unrivaled. but the cat in the puddle beneath her paws? that wasn’t the cricketpaw she wanted to be. she touched the messy clump of fur that she’d always had, long and bouncy. it was something that cricketkit had never minded. but now? it couldn’t just stay in it’s current useless state. cricketpaw tied it, twisting it into a neat and tidy braid. much better. she looked down at her reflection again. now, she saw something else. a cat ready to learn. a cat who yearned to know everything. a cat who wasn’t perfect yet, but soon would be. the cat cricketpaw wanted to be. she smiled a little wider, eyes shining with ambition and anticipation. cricketpaw would be the best. she would be unrivaled. and nothing was going to get in her way. ✦ esrp ✦ the start of cricketpaw’s evil arc! yay! this srp was super fun to write, and i know this version of cricketpaw is going to be fun to roleplay! - music is happy by pharrell williams (8-bit) - art is by @clearsight9
