Pearl :: it’s been two weeks since I woke up tear stained in mine and scars kitchen. But the weirdest thing happened. Pearl :: I talked to my neighbour. Pearl :: okay I know how this sounds, I’ve been living with scar for around four years now. And apparently the house that is next door, isn’t actually vacant?? I’m going to be honest I don’t know how I was this stupid. I have been living here for four years, and I never once thought about having neighbours. Pearl :: okay well, I was busy with other stuff I guess, but still. Wow. Pearl :: anyways so, here’s how it went down; scar told me he was going away for a business trip over the next few weeks. Simple enough, he does that. And as I was waving him off, I see this woman in her driveway, looking interested. Pearl :: and get this, she knew who scar was! And scar knew who she was! He said: bye Gem! Tell Cleo I say hi! Pearl :: wow. Just wow. Pearl :: and then, she walked over as he was driving away in his old station wagon. And here’s the rest of it. “Gem: hi there, you must be pearl! I’ve heard so much about you from scar! Me: aabsssbs-?” Pearl :: overall I feel very accomplished in my social interaction. Pearl :: because of course you can’t actually see Gem. I’m going to give you a bit of a description of her. Pearl :: she has shoulder length curly orange hair, bright green eyes, round-rimmed glasses, patchy tanned skin, and she was wearing a black graphic shirt, a khaki-green jacket with trans and bisexual pins, black pants, and a really cool necklace with a pebble in the middle. And she’s- she’s great. She’s really cool. Her laugh is so comforting. Pearl :: actually, the other day, she came over with Cleo, her sibling, and we had a talk over coffee. I don’t particularly like coffee, it makes my hands tremble and my brain spin, and the taste is really bitter. And I’m not sure I was even half-clued about what we were actually talking about. I think at some point I mentioned how I used to want to volunteer at a dog shelter when I was younger. But it was great. Pearl :: I think this is what having friends felt like when I was younger. Atleast I think we’re friends. Gem said she would love to come around again and chat, and maybe she can set me up with a job at the animal rescue she manages -did I forget to mention how she works at a animal rescue place?- and wow. Gem is great. So is Cleo. They are both awesome. Pearl :: don’t get me wrong, Scar is great as well. But the privilege of knowing Scar Goodtimes kind of wears off after a while of being drowned with cat photos constantly. Pearl :: oh yeah! I should also describe Cleo. Cleo has really long orange curly hair, like Gem, they have patchy Olivish skin that’s close to green, lime green eyes, lots of red rope bracelets, and they also were wearing a black buttoned dress with a checker print jacket. They are freakishly tall. They seem cool as well, really sarcastic. Pearl :: it was harder to understand Cleo sometimes because I struggle with sarcasm at times. But like. Wow. Pearl :: I have neighbours. And they might be my friends. And I might have a future other than talking to a computer screen, contradicting my therapist, and staring into the distance thinking of the horrors. Pearl :: now that I think about it.
