hi, DBD. in the past few days, i’ve seen a lot of issues on the studio— mostly concerning reply culture, empathy, patience, and kindness. or, i could say, lack of. i know people can’t reply to every single comment posted- and it shouldn’t be expected that every single comment gets tons of replies! however, i have seen that a very large majority of comments get no reply or interaction at all. especially on sunshine wheel threads, euphoria / name + pronoun testing comments, vents seeking help, sunshine requests, i often see no replies responding with the help or comfort they asked for. i do wish people would put just a few seconds of their time into helping someone, even if it’s just saying a few kind words. obviously nobody can force anyone to reply… but if they ask for something they need, and dont get any response, what help is that to them? not to say this always happens !! i see a lot of these comments with replies and helpfulness aswell. if we could all work a bit on getting better with replying to people ( not just vent / help comments ), it could really benefit the studio, and create more activity and a more positive environment. another issue with the reply culture i see is that the more popular and well-known you are on the studio, the more attention and replies you get. which makes sense! you’re obviously more well-known and have more friends on the studio. but i see comments by newer members saying hello or goodmorning that get no replies, and right above it will be a popular member saying the same thing with multiple replies. obviously it’s awesome to reply to your friends, but reply to people who aren’t your friends aswell. share your attention with them aswell, even if to just say hi or give some support !! the lack of patience i see on the studio is also odd. i sometimes see comments where someone asks a question about something happening or even just in general, and i see replies along the lines of ‘the answer is ____, are you stupid?’. i also see comments when studio-wide arguments or drama is happening, and people will be posting about how ‘stupid and uneducated’ people are, just because someone doesn’t understand straight away. an example of this was today, when people were confused about the abbreviation ‘ss’ ( a group in the german world war ll ), and why people were upset about it being used in a separate studio. comments such as ‘have any of you taken a history class ?? are people here stupid?’— which was rude and disrespectful. be patient and dont lash out immediately— take your time to explain calmly instead of being rude. empathy and kindness is also a huge issue i see, with people responding ( or not responding at all ) to vents rudely. of course, not everyone means to be rude on purpose ! i dont mean to say that. this has always been an issue, not just on dbd, how people dont respond correctly to vents. a correct way would to offer support, give encouragement, make sure the person knows you’re there for them, and make yourself a safe space.— of course, it does rely on the situation though. people also will be complaining about the managers and studio host when problems with the studio come up, failing to realize they all have lives outside of a little online chatroom, are all teenagers, and sometimes can’t do anything about a situation. empathy about other’s situations is always important.. what if you were in that situation? be kind to the people who need it. and be kind to EVERYONE. these are just a few of the things i think dbd needs to be improving on. i think they will help the studio be better, safer, and more fun. and of course, thank you to everyone who already does these things. <3 you do make a difference and you are recognized. and this is not meant to call out any certain people !! everyone does some positive and negative things. ^_^ let’s try to work on this. we can make this studio better and more comfortable for everyone. :]
purely my opinion. agree or not, i don’t really care :> sorry if this seems scattered..
