Table of Contents -intro - TWs for the entire series - what to expect - current progress - The idea -setting the stage - the shortest backstory known to man - bonus notes - projects to look forward to and additional links HELLOO All you wonderful people :D I am Doodle and welcome to the second edition of Everything you need to know about (insert one of my upcoming series here) Today We’ll be covering Hotel Havoc- a fun little comic about a bunch of inanimate objects running a hotel- (and failing to do so) So grab a blanket (or don’t.. like I’m not gonna force you or anything..) and let’s get into it :D P.S. If you’re an IRL friend and I sent this to you uh.. no I didn’t SHHH -TWs for the entire series* *This is a list that’s estimated to change I’m not entirely sure what to put here and the list will develop as the story goes on.. - minor and major injuries (but no gore since they’re objects- glass shattering, leg injury etc.) - Chronic illness - D3@th (off screen and only mentioned) - a c0rps3 (also off screen but implied ) - suffocating - Claustrophobia and panic attacks - general spookiness - heights and falling long distances - fire but only in small amounts in the kitchen - if you’re from the future and I missed something that needs to be added/ taken away if it’s not important let me know I have NO IDEA what I’m doing if that wasn’t already obvious <33 :D -what to expect The series is meant to have 20 chapters (and maybe a bonus one in the aftermath just for fun) plus 2 games taking place in an ice cream shop (the cast usually heads there after work <33) and an Italian restaurant (one of the character’s parents run it) The games are the first two editions to a little game series I’m calling minimum wage which will be across (most if not all) of my stories <3 The chapters are around 100-300 panels long (with the exception of the first being the shortest and maybe one other being slightly shorter than that) -Current Progress The first chapter is already out (but it’s bad and old so don’t read it until the second one comes out.. I’m warning you.) I’m currently working on chapter 2 (80~ /200) And I’ve storyboarded around 5-6 chapters (I’m reworking one of them right now though since it doesn’t match up with the changes I’ve made- and trust me you’re not missing much..) If this project does well (50 hearts or 200 views) I might make a teaser trailer for when the second chapter is about a week or so away from posting <3 -The Idea It all started with a random joke on the white board. A fork, a spoon, and a Knife in the kitchen together at wherever they worked (I think I knew it was a hotel though lol) followed by a not so funny joke XD I remember sitting in the kitchen just drawing little character sketches of other possible ideas and the idea expanding from there Fast forward a few months to A couple summers back.. I was explaining this idea to a friend of mine who was helping me thing up character design ideas for it lol- And I told her I was going to make a comic about it. I had no idea how or why but I had just made my scratch acc and was like “I wanna make this my first project.” I did not know the first thing about DIGITAL art or the stylization of scratch comics lol. Anyway after that I was explaining this to ANOTHER friend and coming up with more ideas- I sent her some concept art and she proposed a joke as a dare.. (that I regret accepting but whatever lol what’s done is done) Basically she thought it would be funny to have one of my characters wearing cat ears and I agreed to it. Looking back on the first chapter though *vomits* The first chapter is only the first half of the joke though the second should’ve been finished at the end of the second chapter but I didn’t realize how long it would take me. My first couple attempts for drawing the actual comic were EXTREMELY sad not even following the one panel per page scratch comics are SUPPOSED to at least TRY to follow and DEFINITELY not the right canvas size (keep in mind I hadn’t touched scratch in MONTHS by this time) and when I went to put my first panel in it uhm.. didn’t go too well XD So I had to scrap it and restart. By the way I was also just starting out with the Art app I use- Procreate- so it looked awful too because I had no clue what I was doing. I know the first chapter makes it seem uhm.. weird but I promise I have a good story planned- and the jokes get better and better as the story progresses to the point where I’ve literally woken up thinking about one and couldn’t stop laughing. (Its probably not that funny but explain that to my broken humor) I’m gonna do my best for a spoiler free run of the story soon but I promise you there’s more to it then that meets the eye :]
-Setting the Stage Hotel Havoc is set up to seem like a fun laid back comic about a bunch of inanimate objects running a hotel and almost NO ONE knows how to do their job. We follow Fork, Spoon, Salt, and Pepper during their summer working at this hotel. It’s a super fun chaotic story filled to the brim with mystery, annoying guests/customers, workplace rivalry, employee shenanigans, possibly several crimes?, Romance maybe?? and super fun characters and designs. It takes place at The Dawn hotel- Once a grand building known for its elegance.. it’s uhh kind of run down now ever since the new owner stepped up.. as the series progresses we learn more about the past employees and previous owner and what lead our current owner to taking charge.. (if he can keep it-) As our four main characters learn how to TRY to do their job TONS of unexpected obstacles and challenges pop out of seemingly nowhere to make things a LIIIIItle more interesting <3 - The shortest backstory known to man The first chapter starts out with them all in the break room after having come in for the job interview but for some reason they’re already accepted XD Basically They all founds these flyers that were scattered around town- (if I ever make this one animatic for it it’ll be shown in it but I’m just gonna try to sum it up lol) Salt and pepper were taking a walk together and noticed a flyer on a telephone pole in the downtown area, Fork was half asleep when his mom rushed in holding the flyer and asked him to at least give it a try. Spoon was trying to avoid whatever was going on at home by spending most of her time at the library or cafes by her house, when she found one of the flyers on the poster board at the library and figured it’s something to get her out of the house. Long story short they had just enough time to exchange pleasantries in the room before Ring Barged in and that’s where the first chapter picks up. -Bonus notes The only art in the project at the moment is the thumbnail- I might include a layout of the hotel later on and maybe some characters sketches <33 Anyway uhh all art is by me on procreate and Before anyone asks This was not based on any object shows and more on beauty and the beast..
