I just opened up Etsy to see that freaking OLIVIA RODRIGO has items on there. I'm so done, genuienly. Etsy is a place for SMALL BUSINESSES and INDIVIDUALS to sell. whether that means one person, a team, or even a shop with a single location in a town or city. But FAMOUS PEOPLE? oh, no, they are NOT meant to be there. Etsy is a place where you can shop to help small businesses thrive and grow, where you can stick up for the little guy. If we then insert some famous person or a corporation, it eats the soul and spirit away. this is so freaking ridiculous.
now, she IS collaborating with some actual small shops, which, I think is fine! it's great that a small business gets that opportunity :) but, making etsy her official "merch table" is awful. it's not her shopping platform for selling festival goods. It's a place for people who maybe DON'T have those chances, that money, who DON'T get to be featured, to work with celebrities. It gives artisans a place to showcase their work. I really think this will move the spotlight from all the other small businesses on etsy. :(
