(SPOILER WARNING) Ok, so I just got around to watching Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and I gotta say, it was actually pretty good. It definitely explained a bunch of stuff about the Monsterverse. The plot line was fairly good, but it escalates fast. It goes from some kids finding some random file to the fate of thousands of people at stake, and more kaiju attacks. The 1950s characters were pretty good, but the 2015 ones, not so much. It also explained some stuff about Monarch and its foundings, which I guess was kinda the point of the show, but whatever. I have to say, though, that I did not remember Bill Randa from Kong: Skull Island at all. Also, though, the fact that Lee Shaw sat at a "retirement facility" for 30 years is kinda sad, but also seeing who he was, not super believable. But lemme focus on the kaijus for a sec. The Frost Vark looks pretty cool, and its abilities are fine. But you never really see it again after that one episode where it's there 24/7. The Ion Dragon looks insane (like the Frost Vark) and is pretty cool, except you see it twice and never again. Honestly, if I ever come back to Scratch, I might make vectors of those two. The fight between the Dragon and Godzilla is cool, except that it takes about 30 seconds before the Dragon gets decimated. It focuses more on Godzilla at least, and the backstory behind him and humanity. But couldn't they have included just a few more? The show is called "Legacy of Monsters", so why not add a couple more. They don't have to be big and scary and insanely detailed, just more to add to the collection. If you haven't seen it, I recommend taking some time out of your day at least try out the first episode. It gets better as it goes on. And the intro music is FIRE.
Play sound at max, it's kinda quiet Also no, this does not confirmatively mean that I am coming back to Scratch. How absolutely terrifying would it be to fall into another dimension full of incarnated nightmares, then plucked out of there only to realize that 20 years has passed and your best friend is dead and your kinda nephew is a complete adult? Or even worse, 50-something years.
