A day with four horses [] Upd. 004- Today, I did stuff with 4 of my horses! 1-2 First, I went to the pasture with a rope halter and grabbed chica. Since its been super hot outside, I decided today would be a good day to give her a bath before she went back outside. 3: I clipped the lead rope on and lead Chica to the wash stalls. She was acting a bit tired because of the heat, but nothing too concerning. 4: I got Chica to a wash stall. 5: I safely clipped chica to the crossties and she immediately starting nosing my palms and pockets for treats, although I had no treats anywhere. 6: Next, I began to undo the front straps on Chica's fly sheet. She was mostly calm for that and just stood quietly. 7: I undid the clips, or whatever you call them, on Chica's belly. 8-20: after undoing the straps and hooks and clasps on her fly sheet, I took it off Chica. She didn't seem to care too much and just watched me patiently. She seemed to know I was going for her neck piece next. So I undid the velchro straps there and took it off too. As you can see, I was heaping all of her field stuff on the space next to the wash stall. Anyway, after that, I took off her fly mask and she seemed very grateful, but tried nosing me for treats again while I walked off to add the mask to the heap. 21: I walked off to grab a sponge to bathe Chica. 22: I got the sponge wet and came to clean chica. She stood very still and let me get her wet. Afterwards, althought I didn't show it, Chica went to pasture very happily and didn't seem to mind being wet. although, sometime shortly after, she rolled in the dirt. 23: I got Icicle from her stall and tacked her up in a bareback set. She was very excited to get riding ad it showed. As I was tacking her up, she was very still. we got to the center of the arena and started riding. 24-28: We started with walking and trotting both ways and after a little of that we went for a canter. We only did one round of canter becaue it was nearing about 10 AM and the heat was already soaring a bit higher than I anticapated. 29-33: I slowed down Icicle and we turned around. Then we had a canter the oppisite direction. She was slowing down a bit at this point, so I was getting slightly concerning. 34: I brought Icicle to the middle and dismounted. Afterwards, I got her cooled off and in her stall. 35: I got milksake from her paddock and put a simple english bridle on her. She was extordanarily stubborn with the bit today, but worked with it eventually. In the long run, I will try hackmore if she continues refusing the bit, but today, this is what I had. 36: We approached the jump. Milkshake was very fast to react, and her trot was very rushed. 37: We got to the jump and Milkshake took off. 38: We stuck the landing! Milkshake was visibly ready to go to the center for a dismount. Normally, we wouldn't just do one jump and a warm up, but it was already half past noon and the heat was getting worse. We headed inside and milkshake went to her stall for a drink of water. 39: After riding two horses, and bathing one, I was pretty worn out. Of course, there were some more chores to do. I mucked out a couple stalls while I cooled off from just finishing with Milkshake. 40: Since it was getting hot out and many of the horses were hot, and drinking lots and lots of water, I filled around 8 buckets. They have water fountains in their perosnal paddocks so I don't see why they weren't drinking out of thenm. Well, most were, just not, some I guess. 41: After a long day, at maybe 2 pm, I went ou to the pasture where lemon was. I walked over to her and she sniffed my palms. I cuddled with her until 2:50 pm and then went inside to take a quick break from the heat to be with my pets. After a day of short, quick rides with many horses, I think they all were amazing.
