The bustle of the parade is finally over. You expect to have time to finally relax before returning to your training, to take a night undisturbed prior to remembering the dire situation you rest in. Instead, the moment you enter your suite and head to your dorm, you almost stumble over a piece of paper. It’s easy to miss, propped quietly against your door, placed there specifically for you. Upon closer inspection, it reveals itself to be a shimmering bronze envelope, marked with a seal you don’t quite recognize. The circular seal is flanked by the blue laurels associated with the Capitol, but the gold appears more orange, and it is an unfamiliar symbol resembling a mechanical scope of some sort. After a brief struggle, you manage to slit it open. Inside is a page marked with black ink, giving the appearance of handwriting. The message is simple, but heavy in the weight of its implications. “Hello, esteemed tribute! “Does your training fare well? I have placed this offer here to your great benefit. If you wish to save yourself, return my included form to the slotted box outside the training hall entrance on your way to training tomorrow. “Signed, a friend or a fiend, depending on who you ask.” For those of you suspicious- or lucky- enough to hold the letter near a flame, you will reveal an additional line of text written at the end of the main paragraph: “What are you really made of? Be cautious and wise of the choices you choose.” What does that mean? Before you can ponder too long, you are able to locate another slip of paper folded carefully inside the envelope. It is a simple form, asking some information about you and your tribute experiences. Your mind races- do you accept the cryptic invitation, and fill out this form?
