“Kaaaate!” Kate looked up. Her mother, Evelyn, was calling to her from out of platform nine and three quarters. “You’ve forgotten Liliana!” Liliana was Kate’s pet jackrabbit. She meant the world to her. Evelyn passed the cage through the door of Kate’s compartment. “See you in the summer holidays mom!” “Bub bye Star!” Star was Evelyn’s special nickname for Kate. The Hogwarts Express started slowly moving away from the platform. Kate leaned out of the window and waved to her parents. Then, the train turned a corner, and they were gone. Kate leaned back in her seat. Suddenly, the door of her compartment slid open. A boy about Kate’s age was standing in the doorway. He had Black hair and grey eyes, like her. “Hi! Uh, can I sit here?” He asked, stroking his tiny green eyes kitten through the bars of it’s cage. “Yeah, sure!” Replied Kate shyly. She nervously curled her wavy blonde hair around her fingers. The boy came in and sat down. For a few awkward moments, they sat in silence, before Kate decided to make conversation. “W-what’s your name?” She asked, not looking at him. The boy glanced at her, smiling. “Conrad Walker. As long as youdon’t call me ‘Con’, I’m happy,” He said, stretching his hands. Kate laughed softly. “Does someone else call you that?”She asked with a nervous smile. Conrad’s smile grew wider. “Ilya. She’s a year younger than me. Wait, I have a picture somwhere…” he searchedhis trunk, before bringing out a picture, clearly cut out, of himself, scowling up at someone Kate couldn’t see, and a kind looking girl with curly black hair smiling at the camera. “Too nice for her own good,” He told Kate, putting the picture away. Kate laughed. “But you seem a little… upset…? In the picture?” She asked cautiously. Conrad opened his mouth to reply, but before he could, the compartment door suddenly barged open.
