entry #002 09 july 2026 i just want to say that these are completely my own opinions, and i genuinely read every single one of these books. i want to explore more niche, underrated, and non-booktok books, so please comment some of your favorites! firstly, these are the best works of literature to ever be written, off the charts: - the hunger games - catching fire - mockingjay - the ballad of songbirds and snakes - sunrise on the reaping yes, i included the whole hunger games series. please please PLEASE do not rush through a book, especially one you're enjoying. instead, relish every single page of it and take your time, the ending will stay the same. but seriously though suzanne collins knows her stuff. thg will forever hold a place in my heart. there's just something so special about how the characters are portrayed and how not a single one of them is boring to read about. #everlark #haydove second, the overhyped books: - fourth wing - the inheritance games - icebreaker - the twisted series - butcher and blackbird (rant warning) yeahhhhh most of them are booktok - correction- ALL of them are booktok. the problem with most booktok books is that the main character is a flawless, effortlessly beautiful girl who somehow has every problem solved by the end. her body is tea and she has NO personality. if it's a romantasy, she always ends up with a mysterious 6'9 handsome dude who also has no personality. or she's an ice skater. WHY ARE SO MANY ROMANCES ABOUT ICE SKATERS AND HOCKEY PLAYERS? can we be more original? every. single. booktok. romance. is about a picture perfect young woman who somehow solves all her life problems and is not like the other girls. these types of books are SOOOOOO repetitive and predictable and copy paste of one another. please, does someone relate? third, underhyped books: - pineapple street: a novel (a wealthy new york family drama about sisters, marriage, identity, and finding your place in life.) - the outsiders (a coming-of-age story about friendship, family, and the struggles of growing up caught between social classes and gang violence.) - the tenant (a modern thriller/murder novel where strange things start happening when a desperate couple lets a stranger live with them.) - legend ( personal favorite out of this list. it is a dual pov book and switches between the lives of two teenagers: a poor, homeless, street smart boy and a poshy, cushy, rich girl. it takes place in the futuristic world of the dystopian united states. he must save his family from a deadly plague while she hunts for her parents' and brother's killer. both under the eyes of a watchful government, both destined for each other.) lastly, books that get the right amount of hype - a good girl's guide to murder - love and gelato - kisses and croissants - we were liars - the summer i turned pretty i honestly really enjoyed reading these books. i have this obsession with euro-summer books and beachy books. i love love loveeeeeee how some authors write with super vivid imagery as if i feel like i'm actually in italy or in panem. books where you can literally smell the ocean, taste the gelato, hear the birds calling. and with that i think it's sufficient to say that books are amazing. i hope everyone finds joy in reading because books truly shaped who i have become. xoxo,
