Spending all day waiting to enter the Gamemakers’ lair was not ideal. She would much rather be in the Training Centre preparing for the games. Her cream colored paws fidgeted against her lap. What was she going to have to do once inside? Strawberry doubted it would be something dangerous. After all, wouldn’t it suck to lose all the tributes before the games even begin? “Strawberry Shortcake, District 7.” Oh! It was time. She got to her trembling paws, padding to the entrance with great anxiety. Berry tried to ignore the eyes of the other tributes watching her. Putting in a brave smile she pushed open the door. Strawberry looked around the room. Vents on the ground, a balloon with tree print on the center, and some weird tunnels in the wall? She had a bad feeling about this. Her gaze shifted to the weapons and she let out a breath of relief. At least something in this room made sense! Suddenly, a gust of wind knocked her off her paws and sent her flying. She let out a gasp and looked around frantically. What was happening? Then it hit her, this was all a part of the Gamemakers testing her abilities. How she could think on her feet in a moments notice. Strawberry moved as if she was swimming in air. The gusts of wind behind her propelling her further to the balloon. She assumed that’s what this challenge was all about—getting the balloon. Well, she was going to find out soon since she was right below the balloon. How was she going to grab it? It’s wasn’t like she could just fly higher and grab it! “Ah hah!” She suddenly exclaimed, realizing that a spear was floating close to her. The weapons must have taken off too. Strawberry grabbed it in her jaw and narrowed her eyes, trying to find a good angle. It was just like secretly spearing prey for supper. The spear was sent flying in the air, too fast to be pushed by the air currents. It swiftly dug into the string of the balloon, burying it in to the wall. Strawberry moved towards it gracefully, trying to show the Gamemakers she had everything under control. She took hold of the balloon with a wide grin on her face, holding it tightly to her chest. More gusts of winds blew in all directions, but the balloon never left her firm grasp. After what seemed like an eternity, Strawberry and the balloon fell to the ground. She got up on her paws and gave a grand curtsie, “Thank you for your time! I hope you enjoyed it!” She said with a sweet smile before leaving the room.
