Um... I think I forgot to share this when I was sharing chapter three so I kinda have to share this now... If you haven't read the rest of my book I'm writing a Percy jackson fan fic go read chapter one, chapter two part one, chapter two part two, chapter three part one, and chapter three part two. Oh and then after this go read parts four, five, and six. Music is sunset lover, by the way. Btw I know I said amber will get claimed in this chapter but I changed my mind; it'll be too fast. So amber will get claimed in the next chapter (hopefully). This chapter is long anyway. ❀ Constructive Criticism approved! ❀ Feedback appreciated! ❀ No advertising ⚠ Important notice, please don't remix this ⚠ I spent a long time writing this. Chapter three~ °+`Amethyst Driftwood's guide to moving bookcases...+*• Chiron was standing at the head table, raising his goblet. Next to him, the plump director in the leopard-skin shirt didn't even look up from his diet coke. The entire mess hall instantly went silent. "Campers," he announced, his eyes sweeping across the rows of tables until they landed directly on me. "Before we begin our evening offerings to the gods, we have a new arrival to welcome." what!? chiron was introducing me in front of everyone!? i sunk lower into my seat, wishing the ground would swallow me up. but instead, he whispered something to the plump guy. the plump guy stood up, mumbling something about bratty children ruining his camp, and said, "amethyst driftwood!" amethyst... driftwood? i felt my face burn harder. some kids snickered. chiron whispered something else to the plump guy. i only caught one word he said. my name. "what do you mean i have to properly introduce her and myself to these brats?" he muttered. chiron whispered something else to him. "Fine! this is amber lockwood she came here now we must welcome her blah blah blah im Mr D." i had made my desicion: this guy was crazy. every eye turned to me. my face burned even more. why was i getting the attention? "Go on," Katie whispered gently, giving my shoulder a nudge. "You have to stand up. It's tradition." I pushed myself up from the wooden bench, accidentally rattling my goblet. James gave me an encouraging nod, but my hands were shaking so badly I had to shove them deep into my pockets. Up at the head table, Chiron offered a warm, encouraging smile. "Amber has had a very difficult journey to Camp Half-Blood today. Let us welcome her to our camp!" A scattered round of applause broke out across the pavilion. at the Poseidon table, Percy gave me a friendly wave, and Annabeth smiled from the Athena table. "Now," Chiron continued, raising his hand to quiet the room. "we shall proceed with our dinner offerings. Tables, you may step forward to the hearth." The silence broke, replaced by the scraping of benches and the clatter of plates. James stood up next to me, picking up his plate of pizza. "Come on, Amber," he said, gesturing for me to follow the line of Hermes kids. "Time to pay." "What pay?" I asked, my voice cracking slightly. "The gods' share," Katie explained as she joined us, holding her plate of salad. "We take the best part of our meal and burn it in the central fire as an offering." i stood up, and held my plate of garlic bread that i hadnt touched. i stood at the back of the line and waited for my turn. as i got closer to the fire, I noticed other kids flinching or shielding their faces from the sparks, but somehow I felt completely comfortable. like sitting by a mild AC. I didnt feel any heat at all. ok, now that was weird. was i going crazy or something? when it was finally my turn, i tossed my garlic bread into the flames and muttered, "to whichever 'totally' existant lame god or goddess will 'claim' me, if you're out there, please keep my brother safe..." suddenly, intterupting me, from the shadows of the woods, a dozen girls in silver parkas stepped into the light, bows slung effortlessly over their shoulders. At their head walked a girl with spiky black hair and dazzling blue eyes. just half a step behind her, moving with the lethal grace of a soldier, was another girl with jet black hair in a braid and eyes the colour of obsidian.
