mods please forgive me that this is posted four minutes past midnight :pensive most rushed GMs ever be aware that the writing is in poor quality anddd i hope y'all enjoy Dull, unnoticeable shades of ashy slate filled the air of the training centre with a lurking sight of unease. Other than the occasional breath that can be heard amongst the tributes, the scenery was much too eerily quiet for Cata’s taste. As such, he had blended with their surroundings like a key to its lock, much to his dissatisfaction. Faces of the dampened spirits loomed around the room with a distasteful scowl. Some cats, if you could even all them as such, bantered with their district mates with a sense of snobbiness and glee. It is, without any exception, influenced by the average intelligence within such folks. Dyed bandages around the feline’s paw act as a shackle to any combative instinct of his - It acts as a marking, a reminder that each battle picked against the capitol is a battle lost. With paws clutched, and a hesitant breath held, he waited. The wait was lengthy, and it is one that is unbearable. Not in the mind, but rather an innate call to strive for success - Perhaps he had cared for his sibling’s words too much. A fizzing noise came out from the speakers, and an announcer, just like any other tribute before them, had let out a metallic hum that can hardly be deciphered into tangible words - “Cata Panthrye”, and it was time to depart. He enters, slowly, but with a certain posture that screamed of defiance and strength. He must make the family proud; He had to make this sacrifice worth it. “Good morning.” Cata greeted, surely, again, with a bored look on his face, and a tail that had made its marks the longer that this continued - Was it even morning? The restraint placed upon himself had now ascended beyond the physical world; Every word that he had dared to utter to the capitol was now just a hindrance to his revenge. It was nothing more than a cold exchange. A peculiar gamemaker with shrimp pointed at some odd panels to their fellow colleagues, and Cata darted his gaze into the distance, letting out a small sigh in the meantime that it had taken for the group to conjure, and to start yet another one of these tedious trials. Cacklings begin to fall into place, and they could feel blasts of air - Air? Cata could feel the unusual force that had attempted to blast away the tribute, and hissed loudly at the unwelcoming sight, with a back arched like a loaded spring. Eyes, dilated to look no more different to the average capitol jewel. It flies and darts towards any motion that enters the room. The vents now makes its cautious stalking into the room, and he blinked at the sight of yet another vent, to which blasted another shot into the air, releasing an unsusceptible, dark green balloon. They looked around for any sights of any other instructions yet to come, yet it seemed that the intention was futile. The gamemakers, despite their noticeable facial differences, like a hivemind, had hardly seemed to care beyond the beginning of this session; It seemed that the programme was automatic. Cata groaned in protest of their ignorance, with the knowledge that the gamemakers wouldn’t have heard either way. In a desperate attempt, he jumped swiftly onto one of the sources of cold air, and felt the impact of the controlled air bumping onto the feline disgracefully. He floats, and lands with four paws again on the ground. /So the vents *actually* have a purpose beyond the aesthetics. Cata dwindled on the thought, as the balloon sways gently to and fro, with a graceful departure from what he could have reached on a surface level. ‘Course it had a purpose! It was awfully obvious to anyone who had cared, unfortunately, as an insult to their team, it was painstakingly obvious that he did not have the intentions of doing so. On days like this, they should have just sat there, and to do nothing noteworthy. But again, doing so only proved the stereotypes that the capitol have imposed. Picking up some odd ropes from the pile of tools that stocked around the room, initially, Cata had tied himself through the hip, and onto the cold vent that had landed them a surprise - Making sure that his intentions of reaching the balloon are beyond obvious, but not before grabbing a pair of daggers, in order to free themselves from this mess, whilst leaving off loose ends for yet another purpose. As the wind began bristling its way through once more, Cata took advantage of the scenario, and began his ascension upwards to the balloon, with closing distance towards the balloon , although it was not a pleasant journey, it was one that his body had adapted to soon enough. Yet, now, he needed to show that he was more capable than catching a balloon alone, otherwise, this may have very well ended as a rather dull trial.
Impression. Impress the cats that he wouldn’t even bat an eye about. With the loose strings, he lashed out one end towards the sides, in order to keep the balloon from going up again , and once the ropes had reached its maximum height, they had joined the two in place. The balloon gravitates onto their chest fur, and Cata held his head close against the balloon. It’s what Lu does in order to keep him around as a child. Slowly, Cata severs the ties between him and the floor, as both himself and the balloon had made their truce. With risk comes great reward, as they say. One, two. The texture of the balloon was not one that is exactly satisfactory to his standards, from how easily that it could have slipped away. There are a lot of things in life that can slip away from someone in a flash, and he hoped that this isn’t one of them. Twenty-one, twenty-two. In his head, Cata had counted quicker than he’d like to admit. It might not have been twenty seconds just yet, but it sounded reasonable to stay in the air for such a long time. It is what they wanted, was it not? For a practice run on how it feels like to hold your opponent in your arms when they are gone. Forty-one, forty-two. A sudden shift in the peaceful atmosphere changes, as a hot blast of air soon came from a side vent. Cata hissed, and had, in his best attempt to turn around, and block the vent with their thick tail. This surely had shown that he was capable? This thing with quick wits, as they say, was Cata’s greatest ability, his mouth, and the way it delivers words, and now, the balloon was safe and sound. It’s almost as if they have bonded through this misfortune that had been entirely caused by the gamemakers. Fifty-one, Fifty-two. A fuse of green and grey merged like some perfect harmony at this very moment in time. The same shade of green of district 11, their fur, made to look the same as Sol’s fur. Oh, district 11, how could anyone not love what they have known? The wheats that breeze through the fields. Why does this remind him of home? He pondered, and they could feel the sensations of the dampening irises, flowing onto his cheek fur, down and down, onto the neck and down on the floor. A stupid, stupid thing like this isn’t supposed to make anyone cry. How dared he showed what the capitol what it’s like, away from home, bearing arms to protect your sorry little life. How dared they showed that there was someone behind all those layers? Nothing, nothing will let him break under such scenarios. He screamed as loud as he could, so that the world doesn’t see, so that Pa doesn’t see. Sixty. Cata loosened the grip on their daggers - and he hurled, he hurled everything he had. With the throw of a warrior, with the throw that is futile from the start. There simply was no point in attempting to break the glass alone. A horrible, stench-filled shriek came out like a roaring flame that can no longer be concealed. Thump. He could feel the shaking inside their paws, the sting that it gives. There is no one that he cared for but himself at this moment. He deserved to be mad. He deserved to had his voice heard. He wanted the gamemakers to know that Cata Panthyre is no idiot. Thump. The daggers slide, and they fall. They fall like the conscience that had taken hostage for so long. But nothing but a distinct clanking could be heard beyond the glass.
