Have you ever wanted to make a text adventure game in scratch, without just using ask ( ) and wait blocks? ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE YOU to this project! It's a modified version of @Griffpatch-Academys dialog box tutorial with a LOT of changed up (messy lol) code, and a BUNCH of custom blocks! Mobile controls are already in the project, just click! INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: First, remix the project, and name it what you want your game to be called. 1: Character setup: Here’s how to set up the characters the user will interact with 1.1: Go into Dialog box: 1.2: Add your characters as costumes. Make sure to center them and have them about the same size as the default ones. 1.3: Make sure the costume names are the ones you want to appear in the project 2: Code setup: 2.1: Go into the code tab in the Computer sprite 2.2: Locate the “When I receive Begin” block. There should be a comment attached to it. 2.3: Drag away all the blocks already connected to it 2.4: Press x on the comment to delete it 3: The Dialog block: 3.1: Click into the my blocks tab. Drag out a block that says “#aaaaaa:Dialog. Speaker: ( ) Dialog: ( ) Key to Continue: ( ) 3.2: Put into Speaker the name of the costume you want to be speaking (i.e. Scratchy in the default project) 3.3: Put into Dialog what you want them to say. 3.4: Put into Key to continue what key you want them to have to press to continue. If you leave this blank, it will default to space. 4: The Question block: 4.1: Click into the my blocks tab. Drag out a block that says “#aaaaaa:Question. Speaker: ( ) Dialog: ( ) Options: ( ) ( ) ( ) ( )” 4.2: Put into Speaker the name of the costume you want to be speaking (i.e. Scratchy in the default project) 4.3: Put into Dialog what you want them to say. 4.4: Put into the next 4 what you want the users options to be, they can have 1 to 4 options 4.5: Add an if <Option = ()> and drag into that what you want them to continue with if they choose that (the next question or piece of dialog, or an end), and add one of these after the Question block for every option 5: The End block: 5.1: Click into the my blocks tab. Drag out a block that says “:End. Speaker: ( ) Dialog: ( ) End text: ( ) Colour: ( ) 5.2: Put into Speaker the name of the costume you want to be speaking (i.e. Scratchy in the default project) 5.3: Put into Dialog what you want the final piece of dialog to be. 5.4: Put into End text what you want the ending text to be (I.e. YOU WIN or YOU LOSE) 5.5: Put into Colour the colour value from 0-200 (Red through the rainbow and back to red) you want the end text to be (I.e. 0 for red and 80 for green and 120 for blue) Just add a bunch of options, characters, and you have a really fun game!
