TW: kind of spooky. lots of mentions of infections. bug cat without a lower jaw. you have been warned. sorry mantis. design notes: - no lower jaw. breaks down food with mandibles and then shoves it down her throat. her mandibles are hard to see in the drawing but they're there i swear they just aren't very visible unless she's eating or you're really close to her - based on the dead leaf mantis (my favorite bug <33 they're so cool) - to be used in a horror short-story inspired by a call of cthulhu campaign and a webcomic i like (both are very much not scratch appropriate so do not ask) - inspo from uncanny-valley images. i wanted to give her a look where if she was missing her bug features and had a lower jaw, she'd look like a cat, but something is just... off. - was very much not born this way and i wanted to try and convey that her mantis appendages are not normal growths - not agile at all. her back legs don't fully support her body, so she primarily hides and grabs at prey with her front legs. also no her hind cat legs do not work. that's just a byproduct of getting injured by fallen debris - not visible, but she has frills on the back of her neck that puff out when she feels threatened other ideas: - middle stages of infection, actually decently well-off in terms of appearance. she has a much more horrific final-stage form in the works once i finalize her mid-infection design and start on her healthy design
Design inside bc I don't feel like coding Half done on paper, half done in medibang paint mantis honey im sorry... you didnt deserve what you're about to go through...
