~Into the Unknown~ Chapter 1 ♡Naomi♡ “Hey Ally, does this dress look okay?” I shook out a dress folded up in my closet and held it up to my friend. She looked up from the suitcase she was packing, sitting on my bed. Her green eyes lit up. “It looks amazing! Take it!” “You sure I’ll need it?” “Naomi, you know how much you like it. Just admit you can’t wait to wear it.” Ally smiled. I grinned, blushing slightly. “Yeah.” I quickly folded it back up, gently placed the dress in my suitcase, grabbed a shirt. “Naomi?” Ally’s voice made me stop in mid-air. “Yup?” “Do you know what you want to do next? Now that high school’s over? I’m sure you’re not planning on working at the library for the rest of your life.” I shook my head. “No, not yet. I just…don’t know. I mean, yeah, author would be amazing, but there’s still a bit of my heart that wants something /more/.” “Like what?” She cocked her head. I smoothed the folded shirt in my suitcase. “I have no idea.” My eyes wandered off to the window, at the sky. Did I really want to be up there? Flying? No…but yes… “You want to be up there, don’t you?” Ally nearly whispered. I barely nodded; she already knew the answer. “How about you?” I asked. My friend quickly reached for some clothes that she folded before replying. “You know!” She smiled that smile that which mean a kind “you know the answer so I don’t want to talk about it”. An embarrassing silence settled in. I looked at my watch. My eyes gaped. “Ally, we have to get going!” I practically yelled. “Why?” She frowned. “We don’t have a plane to catch!” “Yeah, I know, but I wanted to be there before dark, remember?” “Oh, yes, to set up the tents and stuff! Okay, count on me!” We raced through last-minute packing and necessary survival items: food, water, and books. Though we’d planned on spending more time outside in God’s beautiful nature instead of reading-it, to be clear, also was amazing. Ally and I hauled our heavy suitcases to my car and shut the trunk-after successfully fitting everything in-with a proud grin. Our car doors closing boomed in the darkening air. The engine purred as I turned it on. We were off.
