... to the end of beginning ♡ i really dont want to be making this project because i know no one is gonna believe me ahaha, but unfortunately i will be waving goodbye. i don't want notes and long paragraphs, or people begging me to stay. i just genuinely cant be on this site anymore. from the beginning of this account i said that at the end of the summer i would be off of scratch. anddd for once i would like to hold true to my promise :) :) :) i dont expect you to read all of this, but if you have anything negative to say about "leavebaiting," i'd advise you to click off this project now!!! i joined scratch in 2022 and had a dual account with a friend. in 2023 that same friend and i were bored, and remembered that this website existed. so we made new seperate accounts, and wanted to see who could get the most followers in a week. that acc was @lifewelle . i actually revived that account in 2024 (?) and acted like it was a random but thats beside the point. in the end i got the most follows in a week and we forgot about those accounts. ANYWAY in 2024 i was insanely bored and remembered about scratch again and thus @midnutation, @iris13-, @M1DNUT4TI0N, and @readwiris were born. i didnt expect midnutation to turn into what it turned into. i expected it to be one of the many accounts i made that peaked at 20 followers and i forgot about it week later. but the swiftie community SHOCKED me. everyone in it was so kind, and in less than two weeks i was at 50 followers. and since i was doing scratch by myself this time, i felt like it would be fine to make some actual connections with people. and soon i found myself surrounded with friends, and since i had made all of these connections it made leaving and forgetting about this website so hard. considering the long history ive had with scratch i dont think i will ever ever ever forget it. if it is still a thing when i have kids, i will show it to them. but, lets be for real, it probably wont be. because the sad truth is that scracth is at its lowest point currently. its honestly kind of bittersweet to see how communities that once were fully active and never dead have slowly died, because it means we're growing up and learning to live without screens in front of our faces for days on end. i've also, somehow, grown up on this website. you guys have known me since i was 13, and now im almost 16. you guys have known me through every weird thing i've ever done. through ginger iris, through the summer beyond, through playground bullies, through EVERYTHING. but i don't want to continue to grow up on this website. i don't want to spend another 3 of my teenage years with a cursor hovering over the scratch, c, and p2n tabs. i don't want to spend hours upon hours on a website made with the intention of teaching kids basic coding skills. and i dont want to waste time that could be spent making memories with my friends and families worrying if my banner and pfp are cohesive. all that aside i really do owe a lot to scratch. without this silly coding website i would not be who i am today. i would not listen to role model. i would not post my writing. and i would NOT, never never never never under any circumstance post my singing. so actually, in a weird twisted way... thank you scratch?? thank you for turning me into who i am today (in a way.) and also, thank you to YOU. to anyone i've ever talked to you, to anyone who has ever commented or liked one of my projects, or simply to anyone who has ever scrolled through any of my profiles: thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! you ALL made my scratch legacy into something 2024 ellie sitting at her desk would never believe. but especially thank you to everyone who i've grown especially close to. you know who are. i've always feared online friendships but you broke that stigma for me. if it weren't for scratch i wouldn't have half of my friendships and for that i am very very very very grateful. and i don't know how to end this project because i don't know to end my scratch journey. it's SO weird, guys. for the longest time i haven't known i life that isn't waking up each morning and checking notifications. logging onto scratch each day has simply merged into my routine. this website became so normalized to me, and sometimes i forgot that there was a life outside of it. and that's why its dawned on me that its time for me to go. i want to spend more time writing stories that turn into published books, not unshared scratch projects on . i want to spend more time listening to music with my phone face-down across the room. i want to spend more time with my friends, going on side quests, and spontaneous drives when i FINALLY get my license. i want to make memories that i cant condense into a project description with a character limit. (continued)
im excited to grow up, and with that grow out of this website. and for the first time since june 2024, im okay with not needing to document my every thought in my profile comments. i don't want this to be sad, and that's why im closing project comments, because this isn't a sad goodbye. i'm leaving this website because i am so so so happy. because i think younger ellie would be very proud of me for finally following through with the promise i made two summers ago. and i'm 100% certain i will think of scratch from time to time and make an appearance. i can promise that this isn't the last time you'll hear from. because despite all of the times i've complained about this website, there is place deep inside my heart filled with love and gratitude for all that scratch gave me. if you only take one thing away from this project, let it be this: don't waste your time waiting around for your life to truly begin. go write the story. ask your friends to hang out. tell people you love them. take way too many pictures. be excited about things. care way too much about things that don't matter in the slightest. stop worrying about what random people on the internet think about you, because they don't know the real you. because in a blink you will be nearly 16 years old, sitting on your couch writing a long drawn out goodbye letter to a website you joined one day because you were bored. life moves so much faster than you imagine it will. i wish every single one of you nothing but a lifetime full of happiness, success, and people who love you and make you laugh until your ribs hurt. i hope you find something or someone that makes you as happy as scratch once made me. maybe our paths will cross again someday. and if they don't, im really happy that they crossed here. thank you for growing up with me. all my love, - ellie :) ps if anything role-model-related happens (i get noticed, i secure tickets, etc.), you will be hearing from me. sorry not sorry.
