How people become shade experiments (it would be better to read Caspian's backstory for more details): Step 1. Shade put out advertisements all across the U.S. saying that if you signed up for their risk-free, safe testing, they would get a lot of money. Step 2. After they signed up, they would go to their local lab on april 2nd (one lab per state) Step 3. Briefing. They would be told that they would be assigned a scientist (1 or 2 subjects per scientist) and that the scientist would choose 1 upgrade for them. Step 4. Physical checkup to make sure subject is ok for testing. They have the rest of april 2nd to chill in their room, which they are not allowed to leave. Step 5. Subject will get a nanite injection for their upgrade. They will get 1 injection a day so the upgrade can form. This step can take anywhere between a few days to a month. Subjects will stay in a sterile room during the first time doing this step. Step 6. Scientists will do another physical checkup to observe nanite effects on the subject. Step 7. The scientists start un-upgrading, which would have been step 5 but instead of making upgrades they're getting rid of them. Step 8. Scientists realize step 7 isn't working. they panic and take a sample of upgraded biomaterial to study and figure out what's going on. They realize if they get rid of it, there would be a high risk of death. Step 9. Scientists decide to continue experimentation on subjects. They move everyone in the U.S. labs to one larger labratory in Iceland. Step 10. Scientists repeat steps 5 and 6 until subject fights back or until there's no original biomaterial to be upgraded. Bone marrow is also replaced to prevent immune system response to testing. All subjects remain in lab until escape.
