Chapter Seven: To The Place I Belong | by John Denver After being taken inside the school by a larger-than-normal man who introduced himself as Rubeus Hagrid, I stood in line in front of a tiny boy who’d fallen into the lake and was now wrapped in Rubeus Hagrid’s coat, which he was nearly disappearing into. Dennis Creevey, I think his name was. His older brother, Colin, was pretty much Harry’s camera boy, as Ron described it. Ginny and Colin were friends, however. I could see Ginny at the Gryffindor table beside a boy that was most probably him. I was zoning out before I heard a familiar name being called. “COLE, LILITH!” Lilith stepped up, and sat down on the seat. Professor McGonagall set the ‘Sorting Hat’ on her head. Barely a second had passed before the hat called out: “SLYTHERIN!” Lilith stepped down, scrambling over to the Slytherin table and sitting down next to someone I guessed was that blonde boy Ron so despised, Drake? Drasie? No, no, Draco. That was his name. The next name that was called out was: “YOUNG, JAYDEN!” Jayden walked over to the chair, confidence echoing from their stride, and sat down on the chair. No sooner had the hat touched their head, had it yelled: “GRYFFINDOR!” Jayden ran over to the Gryffindor table, grinning a bit daftly, and sitting down next to a girl with curly dark hair in a bun and round glasses. And then the hair on my forearms stood up out of nervousness as I heard my name being called out. “WEASLEY, MARCELLA!” I scuttled over to the chair, trembling, and sat down. The hat was placed on my head, and its voice boomed in my ear. “ANOTHER WEASLEY!? An adopted one, at that! They have much too many kids!” A tad bit of annoyance filled me. “Not Mum’s fault.” I thought back. The sorting hat scoffed. “Protective, I see. Easy to anger, too. Should it be Gryffindor, like most of your other kin? No, but you’re hardworking, trusting. Those qualities are much more dominant.” It took a sharp breath in, that is, if hats could even breathe. “Better be…HUFFLEPUFF!” Cheers from the Hufflepuff table echoed around, and I took my place next to the only familiar face there, Jacqueline Granger. She gave me a friendly smile before turning back to her twin at the Gryffindor table. They seemed to be trying to talk to each other in a different language, maybe some secret twin language? I wasn’t sure, I didn’t have a twin, last I checked. The next few names were Dennis Creevey, who joined his brother in Gryffindor, Valerie Hill in Ravenclaw, Nathan Smith in Hufflepuff, Anthony Davies in Gryffindor, River Darcy in Ravenclaw and lastly, Harris MacKenzie in Slytherin. The sorting adjourned, and as the Great Hall was on the brink of erupting in noise, we were all silenced by Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, as he stood up to announce a few things.
WHEEE CHAPTER 7 Credits to, @Jackie_Granger for Jacqueline Granger and a lot of my irl school friends for the background characters listed in sorting!
