NOTE: This is is a very long speech. You will not be forced to read through the entire thing, and you may skip through to the end if you wish. I've not been finding as much joy in Scratch as I used to a year ago. I've loved my time here, but I think that I need to take a longer break. Perhaps I'll come back, but it won't be very soon. It's been wonderful having a comic and being a part of Scratch, but I think that I'm done. The whole AI thing, as well as long stretches of burnout, have really been taking away the happiness that I used to have when I looked at the comments on my latest project, and seeing that I got a new follower, or anything else that happened. I was so happy to sign on to scratch and see what was trending, or look to see if the next chapter of a comic I was following had been posted, and now I just don't feel that, and I haven't for a while now. Sky Cats will not be over, just delayed. I love it. Everyone is my beautiful kitty, I won't let go of any of them. However, I do want to explore new ideas, and write new stories, ones that won't be turned into comics or posted publicly. I just want to have fun making silly stories about silly things, or real ones about real things, and that's hard when you have a long running comic that you feel you need to post or everyone will be disappointed with you. I know that's truly not the case, and that no one actually minds if I don’t post the comic regularly, but it feels that way. But burnout has been hitting me hard, to the point that I can sense it coming, ready right around the corner. It comes, and when it does, I find a way to work around it by drawing new things. I get into new fandoms, draw new OCs, or start writing a new story. But I always keep thinking about Sky Cats. It's sitting in the corner, a helpless child sitting while you tend to other children, waiting to be picked up again. And for the longest time, I kept coming back to it, kept caring for it, making new chapters, again and again after the burnout cleared. But then there was a time, a few months ago, when the burnout didn't clear. And in that time, I found so many new things to draw. I made a Warrior Cats clan called MothClan that wasn't even very warrior cat like, with random silly cats hanging around and doing silly stuff. I created a new dragon thing with weird changing tail things. I picked up an old concept where there was a cat ]with a weird voice in her head (before Changing Skies ever existed before and even before the end of A Starless Clan was released, just FYI) I made so many new things, that I just started to embrace the burnout, accepting it as a lesson learned. Sure, I wasn't working on Sky Cats anymore, but it seemed like Sky Cats didn't really need me anymore. I still loved it, and drew the characters, but I didn't work on the chapters, and that felt okay. It wasn't a helpless child, waiting for me to feed it. It was a teenager, one that could take care of itself. That might have been way too long for a simple point. But here's it all down to a paragraph: I won't be continuing Sky Cats any time soon. Maybe in the distant future, I will, but that will take a long time. I probably won't be coming back to Scratch. I suppose that I could tell you the rest of the plot of Sky Cats, if people want. So this is my goodbye. From Sky Cats, from Scratch, from all of you. I'll still come back every now and again, but not as much as I usually do. This is it. I've loved being in this community with all of you, and it was an honor being accepted and being here for as long as I was. Goodbye, for now. I wish you all the best. o/
Let me know if you would like me to explain the rest plot of Sky Cats to you. (Or what I have of it.) There’s also some art hanging out, and the Sky Cats panels I did draw. Credit to me for the art and the really long speech. Credit to everyone who made my experience on Scratch as enjoyable as it was. Goodbye. @-Dappledfern-
