UNDERCOOKED uses a 2.5D technique called "sprite stacking" to achieve the 360° rotation that you can see in both the players and items. It works by overlaying offset slices of costumes to create '3D' objects. I really want to make a sprite stacking tutorial someday! The idea originated a few years ago when I was tinkering around with sprite stacking. I hadn't seen any games that fully took advantage of what was capable with the technique.
