Chapter Five: Only Yesterday Was The Time Of Our Lives (The World Cup part 2) | by Adele It was soothing, peaceful, pouring out my own thoughts into a page. The words dripped out of me like honey. I would say it started recently, but that would be a lie. For as long as I remember, I’ve not been…good with many things. Blood, raised voices, and, of course…the hand on my wrist. A touch on my wrist, it always pulled me back. Pulled me back to him, dragged me there, where I didn’t want to go. I would’ve spent the rest of the eventide and night, sitting there in my seat, writing. That was, until I heard. Outside, yelling, commotion, and…flames? “Marcie!” A voice. Isabella. I turned my head sharply, making my neck ache a bit, to face her. Her chocolate eyes were panic-stricken, and I opened my mouth to ask her why, before she pulled me up by the collar of my jumper. “C’mon, Marcie!” she hissed. “What is it—?” I couldn’t finish my sentence, before I felt her hand grab my wrist. My breath hitched. No. No, no, no. Please, not there again. I could feel her dragging me away, but it wasn’t her, no, no, it was him. I could feel my legs scraping on the stone, I could hear his voice yelling at me, I could see my own blood trail, feel his grip on my wrist tighten. Stop. Let go of me. Stop. Let go of me. “Stop it!” I finally shouted, breaking free from her grip. “Let go of me, stop.” I whispered, looking down at my legs. There was no blood. I was fine. But I was trembling, shaking like a leaf in the wind. Isabella looked at me incredulously. “Do you not see around you?” She breathed. I glanced up. Fire, scorching fire. People were running amok, both muggles and magical, terrified out of their wits. But Isabella wasn’t looking at the fire anymore, no. She was looking at me, staring, in fact. “Are you okay?” She asked, her voice small. Was I okay? “Fine now.” I replied. I didn’t smile. “We should find the others.” My voice was still meek, scared. It shouldn’t have been. A simple touch of the wrist shouldn’t have shaken me up so much, but it had, it always had. We walked in silence, though it was just silence between us. The scene unfolding around us was anything but silent. Eventually, we found the others. Ginny ran up to me first, her light brown eyes both frightened and relieved at the very same time. “Marcie, Bella! Thank goodness, you’re alri—” she stopped herself, looking straight at me. “Marcie, did you…did you have another?” I knew what she meant, nodding a bit. Isabella and Jacqueline looked at each other, and then at me and Ginny, confusion painted on their twin faces. “It’s okay.” I reassured her. “Where’s— where’s Ron, Harry and Hermione?” “We’ve lost them!” Dad yelled, making me flinch. Ginny’s hand on my shoulder must’ve felt my reaction, for her grip tightened protectively. “Lost them!?” I gasped back, my eyes widening a fraction. “Well, you don’t gotta make it sound as bad as it is!” Drawled Fred, though I could hear the underlying fear in his voice. We set off looking for them, frantically yelling their names.
