hello world :) this is my first project on this account. i wanted to speak on my concern about racism nowadays. if this is a sensitive topic for you, you can click off now. MY CONCERNS I've noticed the rise of casual racism nowadays. I feel like too many people are becoming comfortable in discriminating on minorities. Terms such as TND and TWD (search it up) are being used up and down. I think its utterly stupid. I never understood how you could hate somebody due to their skin colour. So many black people are being killed and constantly being the laughing stock. I'm not saying that other racial groups aren't experiencing it, but I want to speak about my concerns as a black person. I don't want to sound ignorant by assuming what other races go through. If you haven't heard, a 1-year old baby was shot and killed after his mother 'allegedly' stole diapers. The thing that upsets me is that the mother really did pay for the diapers. The mother was African American. African Americans are stereotyped to be thieves, loud, rachet and ghetto. We need to stop these stereotypes PLEASE! Stereotypes are so harmful, so please, let us as a society stop them. HOW ARE PEOPLE BECOMING COMFORTABLE BEING RACIST? The answer is simple really. The president. Ha. As soon as he was appointed, people started started getting comfortable in being racist. Why? The president is racist too. Simple. This just doesn't apply in the US too. If you haven't heard, in China, a company made stress dolls of black babies. You can use this black baby to hit and relieve your anger. I'm not sure if I'm being too woke, but I feel like that was intentional. It baffles me how some minorities poke fun at other minorities. We're on the same boat LOL. INTERNALISED RACISM I also feel like internalised racism plays a big part in why racism is becoming more common . It really makes me sad when People of Colour are colorist. According to Google, Colorism is a form of prejudice that specifically privileges lighter-skinned individuals and marginalizes or discriminates against darker-skinned individuals, often within the same racial or ethnic group. Colourism is a branch of racism people!!! Why discriminate someone who's the same race/ethnicity as you just for how dark they are? I also feel like a lot of POC are trying to fit Eurocentric beauty standards. This leads to them mocking their ethnic features. Mocking features such as big lips, monolids, wide nose, etc. You don't need to fit European beauty standards to be beautiful :) CLOSING Racism is still a huge problem in this era. It's not cool at all to discriminate someone based on the colour on their skin. At the end of the day, we all bleed red. We are all people. If you're being racially discriminated, just remember you're beautiful the way you are.
