Chapter Three: Yeah, I Saw Sparks | by Coldplay The shop was quite…well, beautiful. It smelt of pure wood, and the walls were lined with boxes of what I expected to be wands. I glanced at a piece of enchanted measuring tape, which was floating towards me in the way a serpent would. It started measuring me, and I remained as still as could be. Eventually, a man entered the room. He looked like a ghost, sickly pale. It made me wonder if he should be running this shop or resting in bed. He had misty, silvery eyes, which reminded me of the moonlit fog during rains. His hair was unkept, untidy and messy, and completely white. I cleared my throat, realizing it’d been too silent. “Are you…Mr Ollivander?” “That I am!” He chirped, before tossing me a box. “Here, try this.” I unboxed it, holding it for merely a nanosecond before he snatched it away. “No, no, wrong one…what about this one?” He handed me another box. No sooner had I opened it had he snatched it away once more. “Nope, nope…this one?” At this point, I was starting to get a bit ticked off, but I took the wand and gave it a small swish, before he took it away again. This repeated a few times, before he finally handed me a gold-rimmed black box. It was quite lovely, even the packaging. I opened it, and I felt a warmth run over me. Looking up, I saw the man — Ollivander — grinning. “cherry wood, unicorn hair core, and slightly yielding flexibility, 12' inches” He rattled off. “Brilliant, positively brilliant!” What exactly was brilliant, I couldn’t guess, but I bit my tongue. “...right, thank you.” I muttered. I heard the rapid footsteps of Dad, who gave me a pat on the back before paying Ollivander. When I went back out, Ron chuckled, flicking me on the head affectionately. “Ickle Marcie-kins got a wand, eh?” “Hey, that’s our line!” Perked up George from behind us. “I don’t give a bloody damn, George!” Ron retorted. *** When all of it was done, I felt positively giddy. Marcie Odessa Weasley, witch.
