Welcome to the most rushed chess "engine" there is. M and N to show/hide vars. {HOW TO PLAY} Pawns: Pawns move one space forward and capture one space diagonally. On a pawn's first move, it has the choice to move two spaces. Rooks: Rooks move and capture in a plus pattern. When a rook comes into contact with another piece it either has to stop in its tracks, or capture (if it's an opposite piece). Rooks can move anywhere in the plus pattern. Bishops: Bishops Move in a X pattern, (or diagonally), and capture that way. Just like the rook, bishops can move anywhere in its X pattern. Knights: Knights are the ONLY pieces that can jump over other pieces. Knights move and capture in a L shape, 2 spaces in one direction, 1 space perpendicular Queens: Queens move and capture like the rook AND the bishop combined. (That's kinda it.) Kings: Kings can move and capture one space in any direction (forward, backward, and so on). The king is what the player is defending from the enemy's pieces. Checking: A check is when the enemy (or you) has a piece of theirs that is able to capture the king. Checkmate: Checkmate is when the enemy's (or your) king has been but in check but has no way of escaping check. Depending on which side checkmated, the side the has been put into checkmate has lost. Draw: A draw can occur in four ways: 1, Stalemate, when the player whose turn it is is not in check, but has no legal move they can make. 2. Threefold Repetition, when the same move is repeated 3 times. 3, 75-Move-Rule, when no pieces are captured for 75 moves. 4 (requires both players) Draw By Agreement, when both players agree to draw.
