TWS FOR VOMITING, BLOOD, DEATH, & CANCER tortrixblight was withering. he'd known it for a long, long time. what was happening to him? this was not age. the other elders did not complain of the same pains, not the raging headaches, nor the constant nausea. `` tides, it hurts. `` tortrixblight was withering. he'd known it after his injuries had healed. scarred, gone, closed, and yet the weakness did not leave. the old tom could hardly haul himself out to the border. he looked back to himself for the first time in a long time, really looked, and his eyes widened just a fraction. skin clung to his bones like creeping vines, dull fur sagging over jutting ribs. `` who are you..? `` tortrixblight was withering. he'd known it when a horrible, hacking cough tore through his body, pain blazing down into his stomach and chest. when dark red spattered the stones ahead of him, dripping from his marred muzzle, he'd known. the border was only a few steps away. he could make it. he needed to make it. `` blood... `` tortrixblight was withering. he'd known it long ago, yet just couldn't face it. with every piece of prey he pushed to a clanmate, to a friend or to a kit, the thoughts had grown stronger. why couldn't he eat? why was just the thought enough to bring vomit from his throat, to leave him curled in his nest for the day? `` i'm so hungry. `` tortrixblight was withering. he'd known it the night he lost his kittens. four on the same day, four to the same horrible beasts, the starvation, the mossclan crisis. perhaps they'd live. he had to hope they'd lived. the only body he'd seen was that of hireathhalo. his younger kittens.. they had to live. `` oh, where are you, my loves? `` tortrixblight was withering he'd known it when he felt it crawling through his veins, tearing him apart and ravaging his systems one by one. when it left him sick and feeble, unable to do anything but lay on the worst days. the 'wither' was unrelenting, unbeatable. it did not matter- despite the herbs he ate or the exercises he got, tortrixblight was rotting from the inside out. the once formidable, powerful deputy, slumped into the stones and closed his eyes.
