It is six parts... HOW!? Btw I know I said amber will get claimed in this chapter but I changed my mind; it'll be too fast. So amber will get claimed in the next chapter (hopefully). This chapter is long anyway. ❀ Constructive Criticism approved! ❀ Feedback appreciated! ❀ No advertising ⚠ Important notice, please don't remix this ⚠ I spent a long time writing this. Chapter three~ °+`Amethyst Driftwood's guide to moving bookcases...+*• i wasnt going to admit it, but, i kinda got used to the thought of percy and annabeth with me at camp. The inside of the Athena cabin looked more like a strategy room mixed with a library than a bedroom. Blueprints and maps were pinned to the walls, and every single desk was overflowing with heavy architecture books, half-finished models, and compasses. Annabeth walked straight past a row of bunk beds to the very back of the room, where a massive, heavy oak bookshelf stood crammed with ancient histories. She didn't hesitate. She grabbed the edge of the wood and pulled. With a low, heavy scrape, the entire bookcase swung outward like a hidden door, revealing a dark, dusty storage alcove behind it. "Whoa," I muttered, "A secret compartment? Seriously?" "Perks of being children of the wisdom goddess," Annabeth smiled, reaching into a large bronze trunk tucked inside the hidden room. "The Hermes kids are great, but they like to borrow things without asking. So we keep our stuff back here." She sifted through a neat row of daggers, spears, and swords before her hands stopped. She pulled out a weapon that looked entirely different from everything else. It wasn't straight like all the other swords. The blade was shorter, made of a heavy metal i couldnt name that glowed with a faint, warm light. It had a thick, wicked curve to it, bending forward like a massive hacking knife, with the single sharp edge on the inside of the curve. It looked heavy and dangerous. "A kopis," Annabeth said, turning around and holding it out to me hilt-first. "made of celestial bronze. It's an ancient Greek design. It's balanced differently than a standard sword. the weight is concentrated toward the tip, which gives it the chopping power of an axe but the speed of a blade. Most campers find it awkward to swing, but for some reason, I have a feeling it might suit you." I hesitantly reached out and took the hilt. The moment my fingers wrapped around the leather grip, a strange sensation rushed up my arm. It didn't feel heavy at all. The metal caught the light of the cabin, reflecting a faint orange hue that perfectly matched my pigtails. "Try a practice swing," Annabeth suggested, stepping back to give me space. "diagonal" I took a deep breath, and brought the curved blade downward in a swift, diagonal slice. The heavy tip carved through the air with a loud SWOOSH. "Well I'd say that weapon definitely chose you, Amber. How does it feel?" "it feels great, actually." i said. "i think it does suit me." she closed the secret compartment. i wanted to ask her why she went quiet before. "i have a question..." "yes?" "why did you go silent when i said you had weird friends?" she was quiet for the longest of times before she spoke. "luke" she said, like that one name explained everything. "he was my, me and percy's, best friend. first friend. i met him when i first came here. then he turned his back on me thaila and percy. he ended up sacrificing himself to save camp and defeat kronos..." i knew who kronos was from my history class. whoever luke was had sacrificed himself to stop him? that mustve taken alot of will power... If kronos was even real. just then, a boy with blonde har and stormy eyes just like annabeth walked up to her carrying a box of thick history books said "hi, annabeth. i need help re organizing the shelves. i was wondering if you could help." he glanced at me. "im malcolm, by the way." "sure." said annabeth. she followed him, seemingly looking saved from our conversation, leaving me standing there, holding a deadly weapon.
