(English isn't my native language) Sound in Scratch likes to bug, so maybe click the flag and tab the screen at the "warning" twice. As you see, I'm extremely original when it comes to naming my animations. /irony Historical context: (I want to say that my main and kind of only source is Wikipedia, because when I started the research I couldn't find anything else. Now I found something, but it's to late, I don't want to rework everything. If you find something inaccurate, please let me know.) During the time of the French mandate, the region was made of the State of Aleppo, State of Damascus, Alawite Territory, Jabal al-Druze, State of Greater Lebanon and Sanjak of Alexandretta. Later, Alexandretta was given to Türkiye and was renamed into the Hatay State and Lebanon became an independent state. The State of Aleppo, State of Damascus, Alawite Territory and Jabal al-Druze became part of Syria. In 1941, Syria proclaimed independence. It’s independence was formally recognized in 1945 and on 17th April 1946 the last French troops left Syria. Syria participated in military operations against the State of Israel in 1948, though didn't achieve much [I need to say, that I didn’t make any larger research on this topic and I’m not really sure, if what I said makes sense]. The dissatisfaction with the turnout of the conflict or Shukri al-Quwatli's leadership during the 1948 Arab-Israeli Conflict lead to the military coup by Husni al-Za’im in March 1949. He dissolved the parliament. Husni al-Za’im didn’t rule for long, because of the military coup by Sami al-Hinnawi in August the same year and al-Za’im was executed. Sami al-Hinnawi restored the civilian politicians. He didn’t rule for long either, because of the coup by Adib Shishakli in December 1946, only about four months later. The fourth coup in modern history of Syria happened in 1951, when the Government officials resigned. [I didn’t do much research about this topic either, but probably because of some arguments between Adib Shishakli and the government?] In 1954, Adib Shishakli was overthrown in a coup. Hashem al-Atassi (former President) and Sultan al-Atrash (Druze Syrian nationalist revolutionary [I don’t know]) lead the movement, but the plotters also included the Syrian Communist Party, the Ba’ath Party and Druze officers (and probably some others). The national government was restored. The United Arab Republic (UAR) was established in February 1958. The merging of Egypt and Syria was announced by Shukri al-Quwatli, the president of Syria, and Gamal Abdel Nasser, the president of Egypt. (Let’s just skip the whole history of UAR, because I’m too lazy, sorry about that). Egypt dominated over the Union. After the military coup in 1961, Syria left the UAR. (I'm really not sure, if this, what Shukri al-Quwatli wears, was a fez...)
