FIRST YEARS: Herculius III Valerion is the current Imperator Velusiae of the empire. Herculius was born on around 1867, on the 9th of May, as crown prince of the great empire. He was raised as an emperor, learning all about politics and the long, ancient history of Velusia. After highschool, he went to the famed Aurelian Military School, managing to keep above-average grades. After college, he became an officer in the 7th Cavalry Regiment, as a First Lieutenant. By the time he was 30, he had reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and was the executive officer of the 1st Imperial Guard Regiment, based in the capital. STAND AT OG: Herculius was then deployed to the colonies, temporarily attached to the 15th Lavvenan Cavalry Regiment. He and his regiment had set up camp at Og, a small town that was defendable, at the top of a high hill. Reports had been coming in of a native assault, 2,000. The troops ignored this, but had called reinforcements from the 9th Battery, which arrived 4 days later. By the late afternoon, when many troops were asleep, the natives striked. 3,000 natives assaulted the hills with a mix of spears and older muskets. The 670 troops, under the command of the prince, for the entire night and much of the morining, the imperial troops held off the 3,000 strong assault, when they were about to run out of ammo, they charged at the enemy, starting a deadly melee. This suprised the enemy forces, and from some very few reports, who said they saw a large figure in the sky. By afternoon, the enemy had lost 1,000 troops to the 12 lost by the Imperial Army. The army detachment abandoned the post and marched all the way to Fort Eagle. LATER YEARS: When news of the Battle and the heroic actions of "six-hundred and seventy-one" reached the capital and the emperor. Emperor Argallius dediceded to holy a ceremony, and awarded his son the Iron Will. The rest of the troops who had served under him were given extra pay, with the families of the 12 dead given 450 each. The crown prince quickly gained popularity, but Herculius' mother begged Argallius to keep their son at home, as a member of the Imperial Guard. Years later, when the crown prince was 39, his father Argallius died, leaving the throne to Herculius, who was crowned Herculius III. REFORMS: Herculius started his reign with a series of reforms. For one, he poured funding into the navy, intending to turn it into a force to be reckoned with. He also championed women's rights and Worker's Rights later on. (he was slow on it though) He also furthered his father's military logistics and military structural reforms to improve the efficiency of the army. After the red revolt, he banned most leftist parties and brought back the freekorps to enforce this.
