“What.” Syn suddenly felt entrapped, like the multiverse was just an enclosed rectangle around them, giving them no room to move. Their arms were locked at their sides, legs locked together as they stood completely still, systems flashing warnings left and right left and right left and right- “Syn!” Eixo ran up to them, arms wrapped around them as they startled to stumble backwards like they were trying to escape the box. “It's okay, it's okay!” Xe held them close, keeping one arm locked around their arms so they couldn’t scratch and tear away skin to reveal even more metal. “Can SOMEONE tell me why ANYONE thought it was a good idea to tell it Neio just exploded without giving it a second to prepare for the worst news of its life?!” “I didn’t think it would react like that-” Ftio started. Eixo cut them off. “It has a panic attack whenever its systems get flooded, you know this!” Eixo growled, but turned xyr attention back to Syn. “It's okay, sweetheart, you’re okay..I’m right here, I’m here. Just step out of the box, okay? You’ll be okay, I’m right here..” Syn slowly untensed, but Eixo didn’t let it go until it stepped back on its own. “What. . .What happened?” “Some asteroid hit, blew half the planet. Ei reconstructed it, but. . .Xyr really upset, since all the life died out.” “I bet. . .” Syn looked away. Was that what its screens had been reading? It should go back and look at that, maybe it could figure out what exactly happened and- “SYN!” Ei toppled into Syn, hugging it as tears streamed down her face. Syn was startled, seeing as they never hugged it, let alone seeked comfort from it. “Ei. . .?” It asked, confusion lacing its voice as it hugged him. It just sobbed. “M-my darlings..My littles..My sweet little things..” Xe choked out. “They’re gone. . .” Syn felt that box again, closing in tight. But just large enough for the two of them to be locked in the box together. “I know, Ei, I know” that was all Syn could get out as its knees buckled, while Ei clung tighter. She was genuinely upset, memories of first introducing herself to the Xeiro’s flashing in her head, of watching generations growing, of all the adjustments Syn had made to make the planet perfect just because Ei had asked. Of all the times Eixo had manipulated just a couple things with xyr strings for Ei because she was upset something had happened. These two had been there for her for everything since childhood, and she couldn’t be anything but grateful now that she had lost her darlings. Syn collapsed to the ground, Ei toppling with it since she had been clinging to Syn just to stay upright. Syn pulled her close, right next to it and she just brought her knees to her chest and clung close. Syn was smiling as it watched Ei cling close with genuine love in its eyes as its left eye shifted to light pink with a heart pupil, but sleep slowly overcame it as always after it’d had a panic attack.
