click space hold left click to zoom or drag kinda dirty setup but it seems to be working for them (the stick is NOT moldy) colony is suprisingly doing better than the other prenolepis colony with an antscanada nest (never buy antscanada products i made a mistake i will just make stuff myself now) ik the waters yellow but they refuse to move into the 2 other clean tubes with water and been growing in the old tube give feedback to me if you want or what i should do to make it better
flights: summer (they are called winter ants but actually more active during fall and spring) outworld: container from $1 dollar stores disclaimer -*involves heat and metal*- i used a . heated needle to make holes - any test tube would do - the feeding hole is just a plug but you can . replace it with anything like a small . container lid - i used exoterra desert sand since its the . only substrate i got - added cotton on some of the tube . entrances to make it smaller and keep . more humidity in - difficulty level: beginner, no stinging or biting, rare to no escapes (if closed setup) diet: insects and worms, they eat almost any insect sugar water or honey water (i mostly give them earwigs since thats the most . abundant insect here) humidity: medium-high temps: 50-70, active mostly and grow insanely fast in the spring and fall colony castes: claustral queen ~ 4 weeks till nanitic - repletes (workers that store sugar water - and protein - workers others: very strong species i accidently dropped the entire setup and all the sand and tubes were all over the place but they survived and i didnt see any dead workers in the outworld tips: i keep them below my desk in a box since thats the most coolest location in my room, feed them lots during spring and fall if you want to grow a lot they dont like small setups and will all escape and flow like a river from the smallest hole the outworld in the back is a better version since it has stainless steel mesh instead of just holes in the plastic where some ants may chew through or crawl out of
