Queen (♕/♛): Moves any number of squares diagonally, horizontally, or vertically. Rook (♖/♜): Moves any number of squares horizontally or vertically. Bishop (♗/♝): Moves any number of squares diagonally. Knight (♘/♞): Moves in an "L" shape (two squares one way, one square perpendicular). It can jump over other pieces. Pawn (♙/♟): Moves forward one square. It can move forward two squares on its very first move. It captures diagonally forward.
