Update 27 - Loosening Up with Chess ————————————————————————— I recently bought GA Make Your Move “Chess”, a gorgeous 16.3hh British Warmblood who has done wonderfully in some shows before I had bought him and is a really sweet stallion (funny right). I also just purchased dressage tack for him from Will o’ Wisp and was excited to use it! We got into the arena and I noticed that he was feeling a little stiff. Originally I had thought it might be something bothering him like a physical soundness issue, but I checked him over and he felt fine. He also was fine in the pasture and everywhere else, so this was probably some new anxiety or mental tension. I opted to just focus on a long, lengthy “warmup” session and let him go around on loose reins so he could get comfortable with the new arena and smells and sounds and he did start to loosen up eventually. We finished with lots of pets and encouragement and by the end, I’m positive he was giving me a smile!
