Nonverbal Language System __________________________________________________ Table of Contents: • Introduction • Users • Rules • IRP • Learning/having • Notes for Players • Link to Word Archive • Signup __________________________________________________ •Intro• Nonverbal Language System is a system of combinations of simple movements to create words/a language for cats that need it. __________________________________________________ •Users• Cats that can use Nonverbal language are those with disabilities like deafness or being mute. Other cats can learn it as well by taking 10 roleplay threads with a cat that knows the language. __________________________________________________ •Rules• • You cannot make up words/signs for words that are not in the word archive. • Use it realistically • Keep it constant • Don't have your cat use it if it hasn't learned the language • Cats who do not have a disability but know the language should ONLY use the language for talking to cats with a disability or in learning threads, this is not a communication for everyday life except for those who cannot speak/hear etc. The ONLY exception is if you are a cat who doesn't speak even though they can for whatever reason. __________________________________________________ •In roleplay• • Avoid humen like signing --- Nonverbal language is based off of realistic cat communication • Good vs bad signing: - Floofkit lifted his chin and pricked his ears forward. (Good) - "Where?" Floofkit signed with his paws. (bad) - Cobrapaw gave a slow, deliberate blink, tail-tip curling once in agreement. (Good) - Cobrapaw made the sign for “yes” with his paw. (bad) • Bad would be unrealistic and not correct to the language. • Keep Nonverbal language subtle __________________________________________________ •Learning/Having• To learn completely (fluent), like I said earlier you have to have 10 learning threads with a cat that already knows the language. cw type of cow. Theres signups for now until we have at least 10 speakers in each clan. Those speakers can teach other cats. All cats who know the language are listed inside the project. Key • 1-4 Training threads = slightly known • 5-6 Training threads = speaks some • 7-9 Training threads = well speaker' • 10 Training threads = fluent __________________________________________________ •Notes for players• • Keep movements subtle and realistic. Cats do not form symbols or human‑style signs. • Focus on ears, tail, whiskers, posture, and gaze to show meaning. • Avoid inventing gestures that require human anatomy or logic. • Describe intention through body language, not through labeled “signs.” • Remember that other characters may misinterpret signals, especially in tense scenes. • Use context to clarify meaning instead of spelling it out directly. • Keep descriptions short during fast‑paced moments and longer during emotional scenes. • Respect character limitations; a deaf or mute cat should not suddenly communicate perfectly in all situations. • Maintain consistency so the system feels natural across the roleplay. ________________________________________________ •Word Archive• All words in the language are listed here with their movements: __________________________________________________ •Signups• Signups are only for deaf and mute cats and close friends to them.
