Bassie's World - Chapter Fifteen

[ Vee, 4:04 AM ] I was sitting by myself in the small part of Bassie's floor reserved for me. It was designed to almost perfectly replicate my old floor. I was a bit jealous that Cocoa got to take over my room during what Bassie calls the "renovation". Cocoa was, sure, a better person than I am. Someone like her would've been willing to sacrifice herself for all of the Toons' identities. Me, on the other hand? I agreed to help her, even though I knew it was wrong. Sure, I'm guilty, but maybe it's better this way. I hated Dandy being the Main Character, and now? He's only around for a month! ...Maybe that's a bit self-centered of me to say. Whatever. I don't have to be as thoughtful or empathetic as the other Toons. I'm just a machine. I decided to take my mind off of that topic. Bassie had asked me to change some Toon code for the thousandth time. I don't understand why she doesn't just search up how to do it herself! After all, she is the only one in this place with internet access. It took me a moment to even remember what she wanted me to code. Something about the Easter Toons again...? No... oh! That's right. She wanted me to erase Cosmo, Sprout, and Cocoa's memory of April 3rd. I wondered why...? Oh well. I can just watch their memories from that day when I get to them. I opened up the green coding page. I scrolled down until I reached the first target, Cocoa. A few more clicks into a few more sections, and boom! All of Cocoa's memories that she kept from April the 3rd. It's kind of insane that I can access any Toon's memories besides Bassie's. Like, really, I can find out what a person I've never even talked to does every day! Of course, I would never. I decided I'd play them, and at first, it seemed usual. She hopped (literally) out of bed and then it faded. Typical for memories, there must have been a lot of unimportant filler that Cocoa's artificial mind deemed unnecessary. Then, it was her in an elevator with Shelly, and you guessed it... Cosmo and Sprout. I can't hear any audio from memories, but they seemed to be discussing something of importance. Then, Cocoa ran off with Shelly a bit after the elevator opened. After that, it faded again. It cut to Cocoa holding something up in front of Bassie, and Bassie getting super mad. I couldn't see very well, but it even looked like she was crying. The next scene was rather familiar to me. Bassie turning into a Twisted. It was pretty simple. She grew in size, one of her arms became black intertwining vines, and her sclera became a nasty and unnatural red. Cocoa was trying to run away, but when she looked back... Yep. Now I can see why Bassie wants that deleted. But why not from Shelly's mind too? Maybe she didn't remember due to how terrifying it was for her? That's definitely a possibility. Well, Bassie wouldn't care if I put this request from her on hiatus for just a moment, would she? 'Yes, Vee! She probably would.' I thought. But then I also thought 'Why should I care? She won't know!' and became conflicted. This occurred very often, and I was very sick of it in turn. I could either go and ask any of the three people who needed a mind-erasing what had happened, or I could just erase it without asking them beforehand. I would prefer going with the former, but I was concerned that it'd end poorly for me if Bassie figured out. I touched the damaged side of my head from when Bassie last got mad at me disobeying her orders. I had patched it up with a metal plate and painted it over in the same color as my casing so it was barely visible. However, if that plate was removed, all the various things inside my head to make me function would be exposed. Whatever! It's not like I had a lot to lose. I'd just become stuck in this stupid shut-down educational center based off of a show, but now, got overtaken by a power-hungry basket. She wasn't always like this. She used to be reserved and collected, but last Easter, she adventured a bit too far and discovered what a lethal Toon was. If she hadn't seen that code, maybe I would be okay. I realized I had been getting distracted, and chose which one I'd go with. The first option. But which of the three Toons is more reliable? Which one would have the least questions? ...Wait a minute. Sprout. Obviously Sprout! He already knew about the other version of me, the one active right now, while the other two... didn't. At least, pretty certainly. I don't know how I didn't think of that immediately. I stood up off of my bed when I got pulled back by something. Oh. Right. My second tail, the power plug, was still connected to the wall. I scooched down the bed until I was close enough to unplug it. After it was unplugged, I pulled it to its full length so that it snapped back into my body. I stood up again and could actually leave to go find Sprout. Yay. Chances are he was in his room, or in the 1st floor of the Toon Rooms. +
