(“ Lunar, my Lunar. Don’t let others drag you down. You don’t need their approval.” ~~~ Once all the cabins had met in the training arena, there were a variety of weapons set out, including bows. Lunar had her job, so with a nod from Annabeth she went to find a tree in view of where the flag was going to be. Annabeth had set it in the woods, so it was easy for Lunar to find a nice tree. Lunar climbed it with her bow and quiver slung over her shoulder. Once she reached a high enough branch that she could see the whole clearing, she got settled in. It was a little while before the game would start, so Lunar took in her surroundings. In the clearing was the flag and a few small bushes. Lunar would be able to shoot anyone who entered the clearing from her tree. After a while, the conch to signal the beginning of the game went off. Lunar was ready, waiting for any movement in the clearing, when she heard a rustling off to the side. Lunar drew her bow, waiting for them to reveal themselves, when Percy walked into the clearing. She released her bow string without loosing the arrow, then whistled quietly to Percy. Percy’s head cocked up to where she was, and when he spotted her, nodded. He went to his spot to guard the flag, but didn’t get close enough to break the rules. Lunar waited attentively for any sign of the opposing team. She could hear fighting noises from somewhere in the forest, and somehow knew it was exactly 9.4 orgyias away to the southwest, and she was currently facing south. There were a total of 5 people fighting, two women, and three boys. Lunar could tell that the women were using knives and bows, so she deduced the women were the hunters, and the boys were all fighting with swords. It sounded to Lunar like the women were winning though. Lunar was curious as to how she knew all of that, given it was 9.4 orgyias away. Lunar shook the thoughts from her head to pay more close attention to the clearing, Percy was circling on the ground below, walking the edge of the clearing. Lunar heard a sharp noise, a branch breaking she believed, 2 orgyias away, over on the southwest side. The previous fight had ceased, and Lunar figured this sound was one or both of the hunters from the fight. She aimed her bow at the sound, and waited. After a couple of moments, she could see Percy out of the corner of her eye ready to fight. He must have seen Lunar’s stance, but was not letting the intruder know that he knew they were there. Another couple of moments later, both women from the previous fight burst out of the trees on opposite sides of the clearing. Lunar shot at the one closest to her, and Percy took down the one that had burst out on her side. He tied them up and set them on the side, waiting for one of the nearby patrols to come and get them to take them to jail. A short while later, chaos broke out. Most of the hunters broke into the clearing, followed by most of the campers participating. Lunar was shooting rapidly, never missing a shot. This continued for about 15 minutes, until most of the hunters and campers were down. Annabeth was fighting Thalia over on the west side of the clearing, Percy was fighting a hunter Lunar didn’t know, and Kai and Lily were facing two hunters on the far south side, Lunar saw another hunter break into the clearing, clearly waiting for this to happen, and made a grab for the flag. Lunar knew the others were busy, so she decided to do something crazy. Lunar stood up on her branch, nocked an arrow, and started sprinting towards the end of the branch. She jumped off the edge of the branch, and hit the hunter with the flag in the back of the leg midair. While falling she nocked a second arrow and hit Thalia, still midair. When Lunar hit the ground, she rolled to break her fall. Lunar nocked two arrows at once, and hit the hunters fighting the twins. Percy had just defeated the hunter he was fighting. Annabeth, Percy, and the twins were all staring at Lunar when the conch to end the game sounded. They were all staring just above her head, Chiron came galloping into the clearing to help the injured, but came to an abrupt stop when he saw what the others were staring at. When Lunar looked above her head to see what they were staring at, she saw a glowing silver mark above her head, it was in the shape of a bow with an arrow partially pulled back. Lunar swore she had seen the mark somewhere before, but couldn’t place it. Lunar was confused, when Chiron finally got his thoughts together said, “Hail Lunar Days. Daughter of… Artemis.”
