(“Papa? Are you okay?” “Yes. Yes my little star, I am now that you are here.”) ~~~ About an hour had passed since Lunar made it back to Hermes Cabin, and now all the campers were going to dinner. Cecil showed Lunar to the dining pavilion, and sat down with her at the Hermes table. “Lunar, while we’re at dinner, we always sacrifice food to the gods. We usually sacrifice to our godly parents, but since you don’t know yours yet, you can sacrifice to Hermes.” Said Cecil. Lunar looked down at her plate, confused. “Cecil, there is no food anywhere. How am I supposed to sacrifice food I don't have?” Lunar asked. “Look now.” Cecil said. When Lunar looked back down at her plate, food had appeared! “How in Olympus did that get there?” Lunar exclaimed, seeing her meal. “Magic.” Lunar looked down at her plate, recognizing almost none of the food. Lunar scraped off almost all the food on her plate into the fire, following Cecil’s lead. All that was left on her plate was a plain biscuit, and an apple. Cecil looked at her plate disapprovingly, “Lunar, is that all you’re going to eat?” Cecil asked, concerned. “I, I don’t want anything else! This is all I want.” Lunar said, her voice scared, worried she had done something wrong. Cecil glanced uneasily at her plate again, then went back to his own food. Lunar picked up the biscuit, and took a deep breath. She started eating it, taking very small bites. Connor Stoll came and sat down opposite Lunar. Connor said something, but Lunar couldn’t pick up on it. English, again. Connor glanced at Lunar’s plate. “Wow! You’re a fast eater ,Lunar!” Connor said, in Ancient Greek this time. Cecil cleared his throat and said, “She dumped most of her food. All that she kept was the biscuit she’s eating and that apple on the plate.” Connor furrowed his brow, “Really? That’s not a lot of food ,Lunar.” He said. Lunar finished the bite she was chewing and said “Why does it matter how much I eat?” Her voice raising in frustration. “Woah, chill ,Lunar! It doesn’t, but most people eat more than that.” Connor said placatingly. Some of the other Hermes campers had started staring at Lunar and what she was eating. Lunar, frustrated, finished her biscuit, and took a sip of water from her goblet. “If it does not matter, do not say anything.” Lunar said, cold anger in her voice. Lunar quickly ate down the apple before standing up and preparing to leave the table, when a voice called out among the tables. “May I have your attention, campers!” Chiron said. Lunar sat back down, looking anxious to leave. “I have a small announcement for you. The Hunters of Artemis will be visiting us soon. We will have our annual game of capture-the-flag while they are here, and they will be free to dally amongst us.” Said Chiron, whose announcement earned some cheers. “You may go back to eating now, thank you.” Lunar stood up and left now, heading towards the archery range. A hand grabbed her arm, and she spun around quickly. “What?” Lunar asked, voice raised. “Woah, Lunar. Chill!” It was Percy. “Oh, sorry, Percy. What do you need?” Lunar asked, calmer this time. “Just seeing where you were going, dinner practically just started.” Percy said, a hint of concern in his voice. “The archery range.” Lunar paused. “You can join me if you like.” She added quietly. “Sure. But I suck at archery.” Percy warned. On the walk, Lunar thought of something. “Percy, earlier, I heard Cecil talking about how he needed a “shower”. What is a “shower”?” Lunar asked, a blush rising in her cheeks. “Oh. It’s something we use to clean ourselves. I’ll talk to Chiron about letting you, and my girlfriend Annabeth use the showers after lights out to teach you how to use it.” Percy said. “Won’t she be confused that I don’t know what it is?” Lunar asked skeptically. “Nah. I told Annabeth about you earlier. Don’t worry, she won’t mention it to anyone else. She’s allowed to know, don’t worry.” He said. “Oh. Okay.” Lunar said. While they were at the archery range, Percy was surprised at her archery skills. She hit a bullseye every time. Percy was nowhere near that good, and he’d been working on archery since he was 11! Meanwhile, a certain brown haired twin girl was festering over a conversation she’d overheard between Percy Jackson, and the new girl, Lunar. How did she not know what a shower is? She would get to the bottom of this. And how she was so good at archery on her first try... credit to ("a certain brown haired twin girl")
