This is one of the latest of Captain Tsubasa manga - but if you want to read it accurately, don't look at me. I repeat: THIS IS PROBABLY THE LEAST ACCURATE THING YOU'LL EVER SEE! However, it's also pretty hilarious. I hope the script is legible on your device. Read right to left - this is manga.
MCA stands for Main Character Advantage, the mysterious affliction that certain characters are blessed with, specifically speaking, Tsubasa. For more information, read on. MCA has these main effects: It renders it nigh unto impossible for any living being to defeat the character. Seriously: in all of Tsubasa's career, ranging from the games of a gradeschooler to a full-fledged professional with a wife and kids, he has only lost two games - once in middle school, a game against Hyuuga, and the second was against Natureza after he was nearly an adult. It also makes it so that no matter how dreadfully the character gets beaten up, and no matter how often the doctors tell him that his injuries are career-ending, and no matter how many times he screams to the world that he will willingly shatter his body parts for the sake of the game, he is always just fine for the next match. For example; Wakashimazu injures his left shoulder in grade school, and suffers on and off from it the rest of his life. This is the same story as Wakabayashi's left leg. Yet Tsubasa also injures in middle school both his shoulder AND leg, and is told that his choice is to give up playing this one game, or forfeit the rest of his career. He plays on, of course, and not only recovers well enough to go professional, he also never experiences a flair-up of either injury. Another main consequence of MCA is rather vague; this is the effect that he is eternally painted in a glorious light where he is always right, and that he is lifted up and exalted by everyone - teammates, rivals, spectators, and sports announcers. And this stands NO MATER WHAT. If in one match he is playing with extreme teamwork, it's emphasized how selfish the other is in his play, and how he should work with his team like Tsubasa does. But in the next game, if he continually singles out a rival to challenge throughout the game, refusing his teammates the ball, it's because he is superawesomeandamazing, and the other guy is cowardly if he passed to a team mate, denying Tsubasa a one-on-one faceoff. If in one game the opposition targets his or his teammates' injuries to go for a win, they are portrayed mean and bad. But if TSUBASA does it, he's called smart and insightful. Another thing to note is how he is the only boy called by his given name, not his family name. Oozora(family) TSUBASA(given) --yet-- WAKASHIMAZU(family) Ken(given) KISUGI(family) Teppei(given) Juan(given) DIAZ(family) Karl Heinz (given) SCHNEIDER(family) HYUUGA(family) Kojiro(given) The list runs on for EVERYONE, excepting just the girls (Aoba YAYOI, Fujisawa YOSHIKO, Sugimoto YUKARI, etc.). Finally, after all this and no matter what, everyone likes him, or at very least reveres him as a "great rival" and the pinnacle of everything worthy to beat. It gets old. Hencely, I am rather fond of mocking the MCA as often as possible.
