Ashika’s mom was once a kind, soft-spoken woman who suffered from a "crushing, inexplicable sadness" that kept her bedridden and distant. Desperate to see her mother happy, Ashika wished to "take away all the darkness in my mother's heart so she can be the person she was meant to be." relationships with other characters : Ashika maintained a sharp, defiant front toward Mami Tomoe, snapping that she "didn't need a babysitter" to mask the secret relief she felt whenever Mami’s ribbons shielded her; however, after Mami's death, Sayaka’s initial admiration for Ashika curdled into vitriolic blame, as she became convinced that Ashika’s refusal to accept mentorship was a selfish distraction that cost their leader her life. While Madoka remains the only one who sees past the "lone wolf" act with persistent empathy, Homura acts as her psychological tormentor, coldly mocking her by pointing out that her mother’s hollow indifference is the direct consequence of Ashika's own "arrogant" wish. This leaves Kyoko as her only true mirror; recognizing the scent of family-driven trauma, Kyoko becomes a begrudging ally, teaching Ashika that in a world where her own mother wouldn't even notice her disappearance, surviving is the only way to spite the destiny Kyubey has written for her. how she became a witch and everyones reaction : Ashika shatters into the Witch the moment her mother steps over her bleeding body as the soul had disappeared with a vacant, pleasant smile, realizing her wish to "save" her mother’s heart had actually erased the woman’s capacity to love her. As the labyrinth manifests, Madoka collapses into a breathless, sobbing heap while Sayaka stands frozen in a suffocating silence, the weight of her previous accusations turning into a permanent, jagged guilt in her heart. Even the usually unreachable Homura allows her cold mask to slip as she stares at the floor with a hollow, lingering bitterness, her uncharacteristic silence betraying a flicker of genuine grief for the fierce spirit she couldn't save despite her warnings.
