Okay, you want to hear about Parsley. Well… here we go then. Parsley, known to most of the world as Paisley, has been my best friend for two years by now. They’re in my class at school. One day at school, I told them that I’m reincarnated from a cat. They asked if they might be, too. I said maybe. I was desperate to know other reincarnated people. Too desperate. I told Parsley that if they believed in StarClan and liked cats, they were probably reincarnated. I had no idea just how wrong I was. It wasn’t until a few weeks after that I awakened, realizing everything I’d done so wrong. So impossibly wrong, the unfixable cloud I’d cast around us, leaving Parsley in their illusions and me to promise impossible things, eyes closed to the lies around us in the air, the svffocating fog closing in on us until nothing remained. Just me and Parsley. Recently, Parsley has been spending more and more time indoors. Me, the wandering spirit that I am, I refused to remain indoors with them, instead waiting for something—almost for someone, I don’t know—by the border between my yard and the juniors’. My mittens barely warmed me up, jacket only closing me off from the world. Here, I was able to howl. And one day, someone howled back to me. Her name was Fern, and her friend known as Star. The two were Alterhumans, like me. I remember that day, when they asked if they could play with me. I said yes. At the end of recess, Star stopped me and asked, her eyes seeming to stare into my soul, “Are you a Therian?” The last word I said to her on that day was “Yes.”
Constructive criticism is appreciated! Photo from google, bad art by me. I wonder, if I’d told them… Would they be the same?
