Text is here because I got tired of typing within sprites. Remember that these ranking are comparative to each other, otherwise these would all be 4s and 5s. 1. City Walls - 3/5 This is an incredible track, with tons of references to songs from previous albums, a great chorus, and an explosive finale that leaves the song as one of the best tracks this album has to offer. Honestly, this could've even been the climax to the album. However, what holds this song back from a perfect score is two things. Firstly, this song's beginning. A long stretch of instrumental music is not uncommon in Twenty One Pilots songs, but it is something that I personally don't like in my music. Secondly, this just feels too generic for my taste. Compared to the rest of the album, it's just a little bit less interesting than the rest of the album (other than the very end of the song). This is a small thing, but in an album where I like nearly every song, these little details are what really decide the rankings. 2. RAWFEAR - 4/5 The first thing about RAWFEAR is the tune. It's very catchy and after the short intro, the song immediately goes into the chorus. In fact, the majority of the first half is mainly taken up by the chorus, which is great since the chorus is by the far the best part. There's still enough other stuff to keep the song from feeling stale. The bridge provides a unique tone change that slowly ramps up in intensity and then quickly goes back into a final few rounds of the chorus. In fact, the only bad thing about this song is the screaming at the beginning, which certainly adds to the vibe but also makes me not want to listen to it, since every time, I have to sit through that couple seconds of screams before the actual song. Overall, the song does a good job of focusing on its selling point (the chorus) while remaining varied and unpredictable enough to avoid boring the listener, but the screaming deducts a point. 3. Drum Show - 2/5 The problem with this song is it feels a little boring. It's repetitive, and most of the song feels very similar to other songs on the album. And unlike City Walls, it doesn't have the same redeeming qualities. I don't have much to say about this song, it's a great track, just not on the same level as the rest of the album. 4. Garbage - 5/5 This song is the first 5, and for good reason. It just lacks the flaws of the previous songs. It goes into the actual song immediately, has a unique sound that stands out from the rest of the track. The song is very energetic, with a short pause at the bridge that doesn't feel overly slow, but instead offers a nice change of pace before returning to the original pace and tune to finish the song. 5. The Contract - 4/5 This song is incredible. It's tune and tone varies wildly including a hectic pre-chorus and a softer end of chorus, but somehow it feels cohesive the whole way. It's catchy, memorable, and absolutely a 5/5 in any more broad ranking. However, with so many incredible songs on the album, it loses a point because Tyler's voice during the sounds a little annoying, mainly during the lines "I don't sleep much, that's crazy, how'd you know that? / Keep myself up, that's maybe how you know that" (The last two lines of the chorus don't have this problem and sound great) Again, just being nitpicky here since all the songs are just so good. 6. Downstairs - 4/5 This song is very similar to The Contact in that its a memorable, catchy track with lots of emotion that makes great use of vocals, but a few lines sound just a bit off, and it hurts the song overall. It's still an A-Tier song, but compared to the best the album has to offer, it just falls a bit short. 7. Robot Voices - 5/5 This is certainly the most unusual song by far out of the album's lineup. The odd music in the background at the beginning is memorable in the best of ways, although I could see some people being put off by it. However, this sound is mainly absent for the rest of the song and mainly serves as a hook for the rest of the song. The dining in this song is some of the best on the album, with it being an upbeat love song(I think, it's a bit hard to tell admittedly). The "whoo"s feel authentic and energetic, rather than forced, and contribute to the upbeat vibe of the song. 8. Center Mass 3/5 This song is fine, it's well-written, it has a good tune, and doesn't have any major flaws. I especially like the pre chorus and chorus. I wouldn't call this song forgettable by any means, it's just overshadowed by the rest of the songs on the album. 9. Cottonwood - 4/5 Out of the two slower, emotional songs, this is by far the better one. Cottonwood features a striking metaphor for loss by comparing it to a tree being chopped down, there one day and gone another. It feels honest and has an interesting tune and vocals to compliment the lyrics perfectly, creating a great song that feels emotional but never overly slow. Part 2:
