The Gem invasion is indiscriminate. The Empire refuses to recognize any nation in the milky way as legitimate, merely viewing them as "crops" to be consumed. They have launched a full-scale invasion of the entire Galaxy, with the single goal of wiping out all life in it. This war is not like others..... It's not about ideology, power, and resources. This war is a war purely for survival..... The gems started with 25 quadrillion troops, and nearly a billion ships, but have already lost nearly half of it due to the fierce resistance. As almost no one is obeying their demands to not resist. They may be overwhelming and blitzing across the galaxy, but they have severely underestimated the resolve of the beings of the milky way. Their forces are beginning to dangerously overextend themselves, and they must maintain garrisons on billions of occupied worlds in order to keep their harvests safe from geurilla attacks. In response, the Empire has mobilized a further 300M ships, and 30 quadrillion warriors to be sent to what is becoming their "Vietnam" While also using harvested worlds to grow an extra 8 quadrillion on occupied worlds. But these soldiers are useless without transport ships, which take longer to build than the gems take to grow. The advances begin to dull, but the fighting becomes the stuff of nightmares..... FTL missiles rain down onto inhabited planets from above and below the galactic plane. Many are like giant grenades, and are fired down into a star system, and explode, spreading planet killing shrapnel all around. Some planets give a sigh of relief when some of the strikes seem to just burn up in the atmosphere, only for the entire planet to become infected with plague. As the gems create millions of new bio weapons each day, and test them by firing munitions into the atmospheres of planets. Ground battles are exhausting due to the gems regenerative abilities, and shear numbers. Space battles equally so. It is pre-warp civilizations that suffer the most, many have not even sent so much as a satellite into orbit. They have little means to save themselves..... They are harvested, and the gem numbers grow and grow with each soul they take. And the struggle has only just started...... It only gets worse from here...... [Extra] As for Sol - _______________ The Dominion has gotten the worst of the Gem Brunt so far. The gems consider the Dominlings to be a "crop gone bad" due to their techo-bio fusion making their flesh useless. And the fact they are from earth..... A planet that humiliated them, the planet that started their decline. It is the Dominion that faces the biggest force, far bigger than the Cardassian spies reported. The Star-Force is left with no option but to retreat, evacuate, and concentrate along the Orion Arm to make their stand. But the line is slowly being withered away by relentless and constant wave attacks. Gradually being pushed closer and closer to Sol, which they intend to outright destroy..... Reports have emerged of a deadly zombie virus specifically engineered to target Dominlings, making a terrible situation horrific. Within the opening months of this war alone, the Dominion has lost 70 billion of its people. Those who are unable to evacuate fight a desperate geurilla war behind enemy lines, but are slowly destroyed one-by-one. (We totally not about to have a Stalingrad-like battle in Sol, this is 100% NOT foreshadowing....)
