Hey! I’d like to yap about something now that Hololive Dreams (Holodori) has been gaining traction and rhythm game players have been introduced to the talents. If you don’t like rhythm games, this doesn’t apply to you. If you’ve seen Holodori/know someone who plays it, I think this is worth a glance. ------ Alright. So Holodori has experienced it's first bit of an issue as of ~2 weeks ago. I'll try and not sound as angry as this entire topic makes me, but I've been a fan for a year, I have strong opinions, and it has me rolling up my sleeves irl. Someone with no Hololive background went on a platform and said, to quote, 'SOME of the hololive members should not be given a mic' with Kureiji Ollie and Ninomae Ina'nis 5-star gacha cards displayed below(attached them here in the tn). Apparently they were bashing on Vestia Zeta's songs as well after that.. taking the clippers' word. It's worth noting that it is believed he was hating on Ollie's 'Kyouran Hey Kids' cover, that she wasn't proud of, and that's she already insecure about her voice. Similarly, they added two of Mori Calliope's debut songs she wasn't proud of, though they've added new Calli since. Now. Hololive is, first and foremost, a virtual idol company! They sing because it is their job, but they were also hired for their ability to sing and to perform, and for their personalities. VTubers aren't very well known over in the West, and Ollie is part of the Indonesian (ID) branch, which already doesn't get a lot of attention. Due to this, members like Aki have had to pay out of pocket because they don't have enough income and others like Marine pour money into smaller creators such as animators due to experiences with low money and wanting to support others so they don't have that. They are losing money due to this. To support themselves, they do livestreams often. When they aren't live, they are practicing vocals for original songs, concerts, covers, choreography, planning more lives to do, spending time with their family, and taking care of themselves. They put a lot of effort into providing entertainment for their fans and can suffer from health issues and burnout for all the work. Holodori, in my eyes, is supposed to bring them more attention from rhythm game players and help them be supported. Apart from insulting these girls, this guy may have affected some of their chances of being supported. Ayunda Risu, who's been in the Indonesian branch for over 6 years, only recently reached 1 million subs whereas Gawr Gura from the English branch reached 1 million in under two months. ID branch girls put a lot of extra effort in as entertainers, learning English and Japanese so they can talk to a wider audience. Risu sings in all three languages, Kobo Kanaeru's most popular song is mostly in Japanese, and my favorite song by Kaela Kovalskia is in English. They still don't get a lot of attention. Anyway, bashing on these girls based off your experience with ONE cover, from FIVE YEARS ago, isn't only blindly turning people away from a talent who has an amazing personality, but it's judging a talent's entire discography based off one song. JOLLIE JOLLIE and Kureiji for you are absolutely amazing, for example, and have an entirely different vibe from that cover. Not to mention the Zeta bashing (which I know less about) - You're Mine has an entirely different sound from her Kawaikute Gomen cover (the one that is provided originally; You're Mine OG must be earned) and Break it Down, Love Mission, and CLOSE(R) don't have the same vibe at all. As for Ina? I can't comprehend how you wouldn't like an Ina song. VIOLET is very calm and soothing, Meconopsis absolutely beautiful, TAKO TAKEOVER is a more upbeat banger.. I forget the name of the cover the game provided but I love it. And her GETCHA cover with Kiara is absolutely amazing and features Ina-drawn art. My problem isn't that they have an opinion - no, I have songs/covers I don't like from the talents, my twin likes 'old Calli' songs + Nightbreak. My problem is that they're being outright rude expressing their opinions and they're not experimenting with the artist. If you're seeing this as a new person to hololive, please experiment with the artist and see if there's songs you like Look up the talent and see if you like their personality based off clips- actually look around instead of judging a book by its cover.. or the first page. Zeta is known for being a pon and being called a cat. Ollie is known for being crazy and, to me, honest. Ina is known for being really chill and a good artist. I'm sure if you did one quick check you'd find something about the talent you like, be it song or personality or, I don't know, even a meme. Also, for Holodori, if you don't like the song, just don't play it! If you don't like the talent but you're going to be rude, don't say anything! If you're going to critique, please take time to word your comment respectfully. cont. below [+]
[+] cont. They are people as well and they give a lot more to us than we understand, they deserve to be respected for their efforts. In addition, it is worth noting that people who have slandered/spread false information about talents in the past have gotten sued. One case lost the person 1.5 million yen - or roughly ~9,000 USD. ------ The artist behind Holodori 5-star gacha cards is design studio QualiArts! It has bad quality here though i sob Here's Ollie's cover if you're curious, should be fine: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/youtube/oLOSu6ocgUU Again, I don't have a problem with having opinions; I have a problem with hearing one thing and judging based off of it, then being rude in expressing that opinion. If you're curious, holodori is free, but it's 13+.
