I am a merch maker. I make pins, I take orders, I get money in exchange. Simple? Not really. I have a specific rule. 1. Reply to me ASAP when I start making the product, if I didn't get all measurements and need more info. 2. No inappropriate designs for the pins. 3. Please, PLEASE fill out the form when ordering. Form : Character - Hand Drawn or a specific art? - What size of the pin - Name 4. No last minute drop outs, or refusal to take it when the quality looks awful. (My printer is acting strange, but still can print. The quality will look papery.) Most people tend to ignore rule #1. It p1sses me off so badly. SO BADLY. Today I was quite angry. I needed my mind off, and since my list was becoming full, I decided to make some pins. As I messaged my friend (who requested for one), she did not reply immediately. This heightened my anger. I know, this might be so cruel of me. But the fact that THIS RULE IS BEING IGNORED SO OFTEN, and that it happened SO MANY TIMES, I got angry. Super p1ssed. Anyways, I had to wait half an hour for my friend to reply. I had to remind her of the rules in a private dm and finally got more info and made the pin. Shipment will arrive for her on Monday (as I will deliver it on the requested date). However, I just wanted to rant about this to make my feelings a little sorted out. And also to spread awareness to everyone. .... Please do not attack me for ranting about this stuff.
The hardest part about this job is patience. Patience to make the pins. Too fast? Then the film/Mylar sheets will fall apart including the metal part getting bent and it becoming ruined. You have to be extermely careful. You also need the patience to wait for the person to reply back. If you're lucky enough (for people in situations like me) then the reply will come between 1 - 7 minutes. Otherwise, you'll have to do homework or do anything in the meantime to finally get the answer. I have to wait around 30 minutes - 3 days for an answer. This annoys me so much due to the rules and I do things/orders very quickly. I don't want to break promises or be late to anything like previous years where I struggled to finish art for TSS roleplayers and many others. And finally. I have three different sizes for the pins. It annoys me SO MUCH when I didn't get the time to ask them what size when they were making the order, and they tell me the form (excluding the size) and lay the responsibility on me- expecting that I can magically read their minds and do whatever they want! I swear. I have NIGHTMARES of giving the wrong size to people, they refuse to take it, I fix the mistake and have to keep the pin for myself until I can donate it to others. All because they DIDN'T REPLY. Ugh. It's a hard job, all in all....
