everyone is so, so immature. I came across a project accusing someone of hacking their friend's account. their "evidence"? screenshots of them arguing on their profile. apparently, the accused had saw their friend's personal info on a project the friend had posted, and pointed it out to them... by spamming it all over their account. that is not hacking, like, at all. hacking, according to Merriam-Webster, means to gain illegal access to a computer network, system, etc. the accused did not gain illegal access to their friend's computer. they did not even use code. everyone was at fault in that situation. the friend should've censored their info. the accused shouldn't have spammed their info everywhere. and the accusser should've reported them INSTEAD OF MAKING A BLACKLIST SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT GUY. it was just blown wayyy out of proportion. and guess what Scratch Team did? nothing. absolutely nothing. all they did was take down the evidence project. they did not tell those involved what was wrong. also, apparently the accused got threats sent towards him so he had to move to another account and is coming back sometime this year. I know you must be asking "but Terrier, why do you care about this? it's none of your beeswax so you should look the other way." well this is a /sign/. scratch team can't look deeper. sure, they can block people from saying cuss words. sure, they can delete obvious bots. but they can't look deeper. they did not provide guidance for these kids. they just looked at the evidence project, unshared it, and called it a day. that's the problem with making a social media for kids; you have to be responsible for their mistakes and tell them what was wrong about said behavior--in a way that is specialized to their situation. a situation where a kid says something mildly offensive about something is not the same as a situation where a kid is sending detailed perish threats to another kid. AND THE FILTER UGGHHH everything is so watered down on here. it feels like a KidzBop writer translated everything from 15 different languages. everyone is so scared of pushing the limits, disturbing the calm, doing something new that everything is so, so KidzBop and I HATE IT. I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT. And the originality problem. Everyone is so scared of trying something new, of tacking bigger subjects that when someone eventually does try something new, it's so watered down and KidzBop that it's unread/watch/playable. and don't berate me in the comments, of course there's the one-in-a-million, it's the big 26 for Pete's sake! I'm just saying that that's the majority. Warrior Cats is a breeding ground for this. all the same tropes. cat in clan thinks he's not special, but turns out he is, clan life, prophecies, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera... I guess I've just... grown out of this place. my forever-dreaming mind begs for more originality; to look elsewhere. my stories have gradually gotten more and more mature. and I know many, many things that I really shouldn't know. so, where to go next? scratch is familiar and comforting. it has things most other sites don't, like the editor where you can draw, animate, and code. once there was a petition to make a Scratch-like platform aimed at older kids. long story short, it failed. I saw the comments complaining; "but isnt there already other platforms like that, like Twitter?" first of all, Twitter is a fascist he11hole. second of all, Twitter doesn't have a built-in drawing and coding program like Scratch, and so does 99% of social media. there have been Scratch copycats aimed at older users (like fruitc0re), but those have all failed, and they never had a built-in editor, they just let you upload and download projects made in Scratch. the thing is, Scratch truly is one-of-a-kind. there was never anything like it, there will never be anything like it, and people will almost always grow out of it, as it is meant to be training wheels for the bigger social medias. so, the question is, where do we go from here? yeah, i'm pretty sure no one will be too sad if I leave. I will likely become one of the majority and fade away into obscurity. and that is by design. no one is a phoenix. no one lasts forever. no one stays around forever. and that's okay. whether you all support my inevitable decision to leave or not is fine with me, for I will move on with my life and it will not matter in due time.
