II. MEDIUM GAME (The Challenges) Quarry requiring coordination. Dangerous if cornered, but rich in resources. 4. Tundra-Strider Description: A towering beast of muscle and antler, standing three times the height of a Veylren. Behavior: Migratory herd animals. They are swift runners, capable of outpacing us on the ground. Strategy: Use your wings. Herd them from the sky into box canyons or deep snow where their long legs entangle. Strike from above to avoid the deadly hooves. Yield: Meat: Rations for a full squad. Hide: Heavy leather for armor and tent walls. Sinew: Critical. The only material strong enough for surgical stitches and high-tension bowstrings. Threat: A kick can shatter hollow bone. 5. Shaggy-Coat Boar Description: A brute of muscle and fur, low to the ground but wide. Curved tusks jut from its jaw like daggers. Behavior: Aggressive and short-sighted. It charges anything that smells like a threat. Strategy: Never engage from the front. Drop onto its back from the air or flank it while it charges a decoy. Yield: Meat: Rich and filling. Tusks: Natural daggers or spear tips. Threat: The gore causes deep bleeding. 6. The "Wingless Cousin" (Ridge-Back Wolf) Description: A wolf the same size as one of us. They lack our wings, but share our predatory gaze. Behavior: Pack hunters usually, though lone scavengers are common. They are the cousins we jest about—familiar yet primitive. Strategy: A fair contest of claw and fang. A test of a warrior's mettle. Yield: Meat: Gamey. Pelt: Warm, though wearing it invites mockery.
