ADVANCED MEDICAL PRACTICES: PART 1 Focus: Neurological & Respiratory (Veylren Specific Biology) I. NEUROLOGICAL PROCEDURES 1. Quantum Decompression (Trepanation) Condition: Swelling of the Quantum Brain due to trauma or "Logic Lock." If not relieved, the brainstem compresses, leading to death. Procedure: You must bore a small hole into the skull to relieve intracranial pressure. Requirements: Hand drill or sharp bone awl, sterilized. Dice Roll: Success (15+): Pressure relieved. Patient stabilizes. -2 Intelligence temporarily. Fail (7-14): Infection sets in. Patient survives but suffers permanent migraines (-5 Willpower). Crit Fail (1-6): You pierce the brain tissue. Patient dies instantly or becomes brain dead. 2. Trinary Logic Reboot (The "Amber Spark" Technique) Condition: The Quantum Brain has stalled in a "Maybe" loop (catatonic state). The patient is unresponsive. Procedure: Use primitive static electricity to "jumpstart" the neural pathways. Insert sterilized needles into the pressure points behind the ears (Temporal Nodes). Vigorously rub a piece of Amber or Glass against dry fur to build a static charge. Touch the charged Amber to the needles. A spark will jump through the needles to stimulate the brain. Requirements: Amber/Glass, dry fur, sterilized needles. Dice Roll: Success (17+): The spark resets the logic loop. The patient gasps and wakes up. Fail (8-16): The shock is too weak or mis-timed. The patient convulses but does not wake. (You can try again, but risk brain damage). Crit Fail (1-7): The shock burns the neural tissue. The Quantum Brain is permanently damaged (Patient becomes amnesiac or comatose). II. THORACIC SURGERY (Air Sacs & Lungs) 3. Air Sac Repair (The Stitch) Condition: A punctured Air Sac. Air is leaking into the chest cavity (Pneumothorax), collapsing the lung. Patient cannot breathe or fly. Procedure: Open the chest cavity, locate the tear in the Air Sac, and stitch it with dissolvable sinew. You must then reinflate the Air Sac. Requirements: Sterilized needle, sinew, Glacial-Gel Fungus (to seal the external wound). Dice Roll: Success (16+): The Air Sac holds. Breathing returns. Patient cannot fly for 2 weeks. Fail (6-15): The seal leaks. The patient survives but has permanently reduced Stamina/Vitality (-3 Vitality). Crit Fail (1-5): The Air Sac ruptures completely during surgery. Patient suffocates on the table.
