Chapter 1new demon?: The crash shook Phoenix Parks so hard that the Demon Coaster’s chains clattered like metal teeth. Purple sparks burst upward from the crater, lighting the night for a heartbeat before fading into smoke. Barney stopped mid‑stride. “Okay… that was definitely not part of the nightly show.” Norma groaned. “If this is another demon trying to make a dramatic entrance, I’m not dealing with it.” Pugsley sniffed the air. “Nope. This smells… celestial. And also like burnt cotton candy.” They approached the crater cautiously. Inside it, a girl slowly pushed herself up, coughing through the smoke. She looked strikingly like Courtney — sharp features, jagged hair that stuck out in chaotic angles, glowing violet eyes that flickered like dying stars. Her wings were shredded, feathers half‑burned and half‑glowing, as if someone had ripped the light right out of them. She stared at them with wide, confused eyes. Barney stepped forward gently. “Hey. Are you hurt? Do you know your name?” The girl blinked. Her voice was soft, shaky. “…Mils.” Norma raised an eyebrow. “Okay. Good start. Do you know anything else? Where you came from? Why you fell from the sky like a meteor with attitude?” Mils shook her head slowly. “I don’t… remember. I don’t remember anything. Just my name. Everything else is… empty.” She pressed a hand to her forehead, frustrated, like she was trying to grab memories that weren’t there. Pugsley’s tail drooped. “Oh no. That sounds really bad.” Barney crouched beside her. “It’s okay. We’ll help you figure it out.” But Mils’ expression suddenly shifted — fear flickering behind her glowing eyes. “I don’t remember what happened,” she whispered, “but… something feels wrong. Like something is missing. Or watching.” A cold wind swept through Phoenix Parks, snuffing out the lights on the Ferris wheel one by one. Norma groaned. “Fantastic. Love when the park gets ominous.” Mils looked up at the sky, wings trembling. “I don’t know who I am,” she said softly, “but I think something dangerous knows me.” And somewhere deep in the park, something growled back.
YES THIS IS MILS. AKA ME
