I like to reread this part of Vast Error on the thumbnail. Why? Edolon is my favorite villain and is super interesting!! ^^ So how does his Doom work with no Aspect? In Homestuck, if a player effectively has only the Aspect of Doom- with nothing else shaping it- then their entire role in the session revolves around cost and consequence. Instead of manipulating a specific element or concept, they function more like the system that enforces the price of progress. Whenever something powerful happens, winning a fight, activating an artifact, preventing a catastrophe, the game still demands a cost, and that cost tends to fall onto the Doom player. The question that started this for me was simple: he got completely beaten, but he still survived. Why? For a Doom-aligned player, harm can function as the “price” that fuels their abilities. Enduring real damage or loss can strengthen their magic, because the power comes from a sacrifice actually being paid. If someone like that is stabbed or seriously injured, the wound itself might act as the cost that allows stronger effects to trigger—abilities that would not activate otherwise. The more real the consequence, the more the system has been satisfied. That said, Doom rarely comes without limits. The power does not appear freely; it requires genuine suffering, exhaustion, or depletion. Overusing it would likely leave the player worn down, permanently damaged, or slowly running out of what they can afford to give. In that sense, surviving something brutal does not mean they avoided the price, it usually means they were the one who paid it. - If you have anything to add, please tell me! I'm still learning about aspects and classpects, seeing how they work is super interesting to me. I may get something wrong here. Feel free to give me a better direction on it?
